(1 of 9) Cooper's Hawk - Last Saturday I looked out to see a Cooper's Hawk with a freshly-killed Mourning Dove. The hawk remained in one place for 35 minutes before it flew off with the remains of the carcass. In the meantime, I took 118 photos. Photo quality is compromised by the fact that it was snowing heavily at the time (some of it stuck to the window through which I was shooting), but I hope you will get something of the sense of awe I felt while I watched.

NRCS employees gathered in St. Paul, Oregon to conduct a training on Pasture Assessment. During the training employees practiced recognizing common pasture plants, estimating annual forage production, and giving a pasture assessment score. It was a fun field day for all!
