This photo was made in what we call South Sny, a little seasonally filled ox-bow pond where in days of yore the Crowe River used to flow. At certain times of day it lights up with a magical glow. This is its early October Aspect.
La Dent de Jaman no. DSC_6487.
The Dent de Jaman is a mountain (1875 m) above Montreux, situated north of the Rochers de Naye.

Tremezzo, in my opinion, although it is a small commune with little more than 1300 inhabitants, has a more urban aspect, perhaps by the greater circulation of cars in the edge along the lake.
Very frequented by tourists, it has wonderful hotels, but its main attraction is Vila Carlota, a beautiful palace transformed into a museum, with a grandiose garden, in fact a small Botanical Garden given to the incredible variety of flowers, including several from a climate tropical, like orchids, bromeliads, cacti, succulents. A lovely surprise indeed.
For now some pictures of Tremezzo only;)
Many thanks for your visits, faves and comments. Cheers.

One of the aspects of fall and winter in the mountains that can be absolutely unforgettable are the brilliant sunsets over the misty mountains. Burnt orange, vibrant reds, nearly neon pinks roaring to life in a sky that was dull and grey only a few minutes before, then almost as fast as it began, the sunset is over, and you’re standing in the dark with a memory. Of course, if you’re a photographer you captured that memory, and brought it back to life to share with the rest of the world, doing your best to keep an even exposure, and perhaps toning down some of those vibrant colors of the sky just to give it a lifelike feel.

A small (Size 3 to 4 mm.) slender fly. The male has a metallic green thorax and scutellum (both are greenish black in females). The humeri may be yellowish. The scutellum bears four yellow spines. The abdomen in both males and females is yellow (discally) and black at the sides and posteriorly. The male has black and tan banded legs. Females have yellow legs with dark tarsi. The clear wings have dark stigma. The habitat is moist or shaded locations with trees. Males sometimes in rapidly moving swarms. Adults are found from June to September. The saproxylic larvae found in decaying wood debris and rot holes of trees.
What is marvelous about a photograph is that its possibilities are infinite; there aren’t any subjects ‘done to death’.

The nature of your mind will be biased towards intellectualism, and you will be attracted towards the realm of ideas, expressing a creative and questioning curiosity plus the ability to understand the variety of answers that you discover from various sources. Your mind will tend to be analytical; and you are likely to be attracted towards work which involves enquiry, research or teaching. You have the ability to intuit an underlying, synthesising cohesive meaning within the varied knowledge you acquire; and this can be shared with others. Your mind will be penetrative and perceptive, often seeing through the appearances of things into their essential components; and new ideas and thinking will certainly hold fascination for you. The fact that you also have a vivid and creative imagination can help you to make new and interesting connections linking your knowledge into new patterns implying new understanding, perceptions and directions. In your personal relationships, you tend to be straight and direct; and apart from expecting the same form others, you are unlikely to forget any who seem to live by lower standards and choose to be less honest in their contacts with you. Trust and honesty are very important to you; and you require both in any partnership.
* One of the most extraordinary aspects of the city of Bologna is its amazing range of porticos. Today the historic centre of Bologna, that is to say the area included into the city walls of the thirteenth century, contains some 38 kilometres (23 miles) of porticos build during a long historic period from the eleventh to the twentieth century. It was very hot while we there but you could walk almost everywhere in the shade of these porticos. No doubt in bad weather you would be equally protected from rain and snow. Many Italian cities had extensive systems of porticos but most got rid of many of them to allow the roads to be widened. Bologna has chosen to put people before cars, which is a change. They are very pleasing to walk through, light and shadows constantly change under them. I took quite a few shots of these architectural features some of them will no doubt appear later in my stream.

Thank you very much for the visit and comments. Cheers.
Erosion of the paperbark forest at Red Beach, Bribie Island, Queensland, Australia is a GREAT place to take a walk (when the tide is out) and take photographs. Very interesting beach landscape and forest to the foreshore, as well as birdlife.

This part of the paperbark wetland/forest/swamp is in the Bongaree wetlands on Bribie Island.
Melaleuca quinquenervia, commonly known as broad-leaved paperbark, the paper bark tea tree or niaouli, is a small- to medium-sized tree of the allspice family, Myrtaceae. The plant is native to New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea and coastal eastern Australia, from Botany Bay in New South Wales northwards, into Queensland and the Northern Territory. It has become naturalised in the Everglades in Florida, where it is considered a serious weed by the USDA. The broad-leaved paperbark grows as a spreading tree up to 20 m high, with the trunk covered by a white, beige and grey thick papery bark. The grey-green leaves are ovate and the cream or white bottlebrush-like flowers appear from late spring to autumn. (Source: Wikipedia)

The aspect of photography I both love and hate the most... getting up freakishly early in the morning...
Today I woke up at 4:30 am in order to get out to the coast. After walking down the road to this spot I soon found myself knee deep in Pacific Ocean wave action.
After getting home I looked over the images, then took a hot bath, then slept a while... in the bath... finally, I woke up and processed the image a little, and now here it is.... so... what's next?
Every November, the Chateau graceland looses its multicoloured aspect, and becomes mostly golden, or, simply, green and golden..
Really experienced, LARGE!
One aspect of birding that I love is getting to know these birds individually - especially when you frequent a site - week after week and year after year - you sometime can very predictably guess what you'll meet and where - one old friend of ours
Aspects of York on 5 & 6 October 2022.
Looking downstream under the Ouse Bridge, the middle one of the three road bridges across the River Ouse in York centre, which was completed in its present form in 1821. It is on the site of, or very close to, earlier structures that date back to the Vikings, a wooden bridge having been reported as collapsing in 1154. The earliest bridge in York was built by the Romans on a site a few hundred metres upstream from here, not far below the 1863 completed Lendal Bridge. Further downstream is Skeldergate Bridge of 1881.

Merton distinguishes two aspects of wisdom: . . . metaphysical and speculative, an apprehension of the radical structure of human life, an intellectual appreciation of man in his human potentialities and in their fruition. . . . moral, practical, and religious, an awareness of man’s life as a task to be undertaken at great risk, in which tragic failure and creative transcendence are both possible . . . a peculiar understanding of conflict, of the drama of human existence, and especially of the typical causes and signs of moral disaster . . . beyond the conscious and systematic moral principles which may be embodied in an ethical doctrine and which guide our conscious activity. Wisdom also supposes a certain intuitive grasp of unconscious motivations, at least insofar as these are embodied in archetypes and symbolic configurations of the psyche.

Grace Lakes Trail, Stevens Pass, Washington
In this world of snowy solitude, the most striking aspect of my time out on the trail was the absence of sound. After departing the trailhead shared with a busy ski area, I encountered only a few other snowshoers and backcountry skiers throughout the day. With the deep, soft snow covering the landscape, it was as through a blanket of silence had been laid over it all, with only a few muffled noises made by my snowshoes.
Along the way I took many opportunities to stop and simply absorb the sound of nothing...and everything. In those moments of utter silence, surrounded only by snow, trees, and mountains, it was as though everything else in the world had ceased to exist.
