A bit of history (bits & pieces I lifted from several articles)...
"Massey Hall also known as the "Grand Old Lady of Shuter Street", is considered one of Canada's most important venues for concerts & lectures. For over 115 years, its famous red doors have welcomed audiences to a stunning array of events, personalities and artists such as Winston Churchill, George Gershwin, Maria Callas, Bob Dylan, the Dalai Lama, U2, Rush, Neil Young, the Police, Alicia Keys and Gerry Seinfeld.
In 1953 Dizzy Gillespie And Charlie Parker would join bassist Charles Mingus, drummer Max Roach and pianist Bud Powell, for the only time in their revered careers and record a concert that many writers and critics claim to be the greatest jazz concert ever."
I grew up going to Massey Hall so it is always filled with memories for me. The interior is exactly the same and it has the warm & wonderful feeling of an old & revered building!
We go to Massey Hall a lot and the evening this photo was taken was for a performance by Wynton Marsalis & the Jazz at Lincoln Centre Orchestra. We have seen so many amazing events there.
