The MAM recently gained international recognition with the construction of the white concrete Quadracci Pavilion, designed by Santiago Calatrava (his first completed project in the United States), which opened on May 4, 2001. The pavilion was engineered by the Milwaukee-based engineering firm, Graef. The structure contains a movable, wing-like brise soleil which opens up for a wingspan of 217 feet during the day, folding over the tall, arched structure at night or during inclement weather. The brise soleil has since become a symbol for the city of Milwaukee

Model House, commissie, 2013
Gijs Van Vaerenbergh
Medewerkers: Renée Baatsen, Thomas Van Gelder, Louise Frateur & Stina Lembrechts
Model House testifies to a fascination with traditional suburban housing forms. The typical Flemish farmhouse-style cottages (‘fermettes’) have inundated our landscape to the point where they are now reviled by most architects and urban planners. Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, however, do not see them as merely a problem, but rather explore them as remarkable phenomena and view them from new angles – literally.
The farmhouse is dissected in a refined manner: a rough play of lines gives shape to strange openings that seem to appear at random. The plot is as it were turned inside out, rendering obsolete the traditional division between inside and outside, private and public, creating a hybrid collage of foreground and background.
Gijs Van Vaerenbergh in this way deals with the current theme of the demolition of obsolete farmhouses, and pays particular attention to the language of the transformation itself: how can it be used to change our perception of the typical farmhouse-style cottage?

Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum
Mumbai, India
The Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum hosted a puppet show that explored the urban history of Mumbai through the stories of its citizens and the development of trade, migration, opportunity, and cosmopolitanism. Professional puppeteer Meena Naik narrated the story of Mumbai’s urban development through the lens of a traveling trader, then addressed environmental issues and their effects on contemporary Mumbai.

The Filippo Strozzi Chapel is situated on the right side of the main altar. The Strozzi Chapel was the place where the first tale of the Decamerone by Giovanni Boccaccio began, when seven ladies decided to leave the town, and flee from the Black Plague to the countryside. The series of frescoes from Filippino Lippi depict the lives of Philip the Apostle and James the Apostle. They were completed in 1502. On the right wall is the fresco St Philip Driving the Dragon from the Temple of Hieropolis and in the lunette above it, the Crucifixion of St Philip. On the left wall is the fresco St John the Evangelist Resuscitating Druisana and in the lunette above it The Torture of St John the Evangelist. Adam, Noah, Abraham and Jacob are represented on the ribbed vault. Behind the altar is the tomb of Filippo Strozzi with a sculpture by Benedetto da Maiano (1491).
A muni or sage as depicted on one of the pillas of Jambukeshwara temple. Each stone pillar has a carving each on all of its sides.
This carving probably depicts Jambuka muni with quite a detail which is highly reminiscent of Chola art elsewhere, specifically the temples built by Chola kings for worshipping Hindu deity Shiva.
