Bananas and papaya are arranged on top a stump for the Owl butterflies to feed on. They sip nectar from very ripe fruit through their straw-like proboscis seen here inserted in a syrupy browning banana.
An owl butterfly is a butterfly, in the genus Caligo, known for their huge eyespots which resemble owls' eyes. They are found in the rainforests and secondary forests of Mexico, Central and South America. Caligo butterflies are very large, 65–200 mm or 2.6–7.9 inches, and fly only a few meters at a time so avian predators can easily follow them to where to settle. Fortunately, they prefer to fly at dusk when few birds are around. The genus Latin name Caligo means darkness.
The species name Illioneus derives from Ilionesus, a Trojan survivor companion of Aeneas in the Latin epic poem Aeneid, written by Virgil.
In this large owl butterfly the dorsal sides of the wings vary from light brilliant blue to purplish with dark brown edges, while the undersides have a highly cryptic dull brown color, with huge yellow-rimmed eyespots resembling to the eyes of an owl.

Sometimes bird arranging can be like trying to herd cats. Despite clear instructions on where to land and what direction to face these "amateurs" totally fluffed it. :)

A pre-arranged visit to the North Baddesley base of Wheelers Travel today (14/08/2025). Established in the year 2000, the now 50-strong fleet contains a variety of vehicles ranging from small minibuses up to 98-seat double-deckers, much of it bought new in recent years. Although many of the coaches wear overall anonymous white livery, most vehicles carry 'WTL' registrations and have orange wheel nut covers, a nod to the rather nice orange livery used in previous years.
My thanks go to Wheelers Travel for accommodating my visit today.
Arranged and performed by me, Boris Twist on December 16, 2015. I played it remembering so many times and places . . . brilliant, terrible, safe, loving. This carol and many others come to cheer us, give us light, give us peace. Merry Christmas.

Tub sarcophagus decorated with pastoral scenes arranged on two registers.
In the upper register a man dressing a tunic with sleeves tied at his waist by a belt, boots and carrying a saddlebag, sits on an overturned basket in front of a building. He prunes a branch with his billhook. A dog helps the man to watch over the animals (horses, oxen, sheep and goats) that graze in an area surrounded by trees.
In the lower register a second man sitting on an overturned basket under a reed shelter and milking a goat. This man wears a tunic tied to his waist by a belt, and boots; his calves are wrapped in bandages, «fasciae». At the opposite side of this register there is another character dressed in the same way as the one depicted in the upper band, but, unlike the other two shepherds, he is beardless. Leaning on a pastoral staff, "pedum", he sits on a rock. A flock of sheep is carved in the central part of the lower band.
On the sides of the tub two lions biting deer or goats. The figures carved on the sides contrast with the peaceful pastoral scenes carved on the tub main body.
The sarcophagus lid features a frieze of Erotes driving chariots pulled by lions or deer. In the center there is a table with a dedicatory inscription reading:
D(is) M(anibus), / lullo Achilleo, / v(iro)
p(erfectissimo), ex prox(imo) mem(oriae), /
((ducenario)) Ludii Magni, qui / vixit annis XLVII, /
m(ensibus) X, AureIia Maxi/mina co(n)iux eius, /
marito dulclssimo.
According to the inscription, the sarcophagus was commissioned by Aurelia Maximina for her husband Iulius Achilleus, belonging to the equestrian order, who died at the age of 47 years and 10 months.
Achilleus had been conferred the title of «vir perfectissimus». He had an important career that began in a subordinate position as a person in charge of an office in the imperial chancellery, «proximus a memoriae», and ended as superintendent, «procurator», of the gladiatorial barracks of Rome, «Ludus Magnus»
The relief, at the time of its discovery, showed conspicuous traces of polychromy today only partially visible.

The sarcophagus in arranged in five sections: a central panel, two intermediate fields decorated with strigillated panels, and two mirror figures in the corners.
In the central panel Heracles, wearing the leonté, the skin of the Nemean lion, and holding a club in his left hand, exits the door of Hades dragging Cerberus, the three-handed guardian of the Underworld, with him.
On strigillated sarcophagi limited space in the corner panels allowed only one figure on either side. This reduction affected both their iconography and the symbolic values which the two figures were left to carry. Sometimes, in this case two winged hunter Erotes, a single figure type is used for the mirror images that occupy each corner panel.
The lid of the sarcophagus has at its center a tabula on the sides of which there are Erotes who support garlands; in lid corners seated winged Erotes, as iconographic symbol of death, are leaning against inverted torches.

I spit the living room in half as having all the furniture around the perimeter of a room is my pet peeve and Will's preference. I had to prove to him this was better! I was right:) (he's usually right so I'm allowed to point that out.)
It's not in the cards right now to replace our hand me down (from our last sublet) ikea furniture (oh god I hate that couch) but it'll do for now.
This is the last entry in my Re:Arrange series ^^ At least for now! Thank you everyone for the kind words and support ❤️ I hope this encouraged you to try new things with your dolls ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Now I'm going to focus on finalizing everything for Margaret's sale! ^^ The 20th of October is very close!

. . . BTW - some cameras do not automatically spring forward or understand that a new year has arrived. When I tried to arrange photos in my Flowers Album by date taken, I became frustrated when this one would not move to the top. Joke was on me. This shot was taken with my old Nikon Coolpix P500 and that camera was still in year 2014. I could not change Flickr's exif details but adjusted the "taken" date.

RENOWNED war photographer Donald McCullin unveiled a remarkable sculpture at the Bishop's Palace in Wells.
The Weight of our Sins was created by the late Josefina de Vasconcellos and is on permanent display by the moat in the palace grounds.
asconcellos's sculpture represents the burden borne by children. Each child in the work is symbolic of the abuses committed against children; from homelessness to genocide.

The sculptor lived in Cumbria and died at the age of 100 in 2005. She completed a plaster version of The Weight of Our Sins at the age of 95.
Professor Romaine Hervey, a friend of the artist, arranged for the final version to be completed and found it a permanent a home.
He told guests, including children from across Somerset, that Miss Vasconcellos was a deeply committed Christian with a great love of children.
"She finished the sculpture to mark the 20th anniversary of the United Nations' Year of the Child,"
Josefina de Vasconcellos, who died in 2005 aged 100, completed the original plaster version of the work in 1999 and the final resin sculpture was presented to the palace by Professor Romaine Hervey, a friend who had promised to find it a permanent home.
Other examples of de Vasconcellos' work are in St Paul's Cathedral, London, Coventry Cathedral and the Peace Park in Hiroshima.

I had arranged to meet Railway Herald's editor Richard Tuplin at Sidcup station at 14.40 in order to get a lift to the crematorium for Brian Morrison's funeral, which was the exact time that 6Y42 Hoo Junction - Eastleigh was due to pass. In the event it once again ran as a pair of light engines and thanks to running 4 minutes early passed my train that I had just alighted from. I had to run down the platform for this going away snap at what is likely to be the last occasion I come here.

On 09/03/2024 I was invited to a privately arranged Pulham's Coaches photoshoot where a number of their impressive collection of vehicles were posed for the cameras. Priority was given to a MCV Evora, a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo, an Irizar i6S, a Plaxton Interdeck and the quartet of recently rebranded Wright Streetdecks. Thanks go to the Pulham's staff for help with preparing vehicles and to the Oxford staff (LN & LP) for inviting me along.

The witch-hazels are deciduous shrubs or (rarely) small trees growing to 3–8 m tall, rarely to 12 m tall. The leaves are alternately arranged, oval, 4–16 cm long and 3–11 cm broad, with a smooth or wavy margin. The horticultural name means "together with fruit"; its fruit, flowers, and next year's leaf buds all appear on the branch simultaneously, a rarity among trees.
H. virginiana flowers in the fall of the year. The flowers of the other species are produced on the leafless stems in winter. Each flower has four slender strap-shaped petals 1–2 cm long, pale to dark yellow, orange, or red. The fruit is a two-part capsule 1 cm long, containing a single 5 mm glossy black seed in each of the two parts; the capsule splits explosively at maturity in the autumn about 8 months after flowering, ejecting the seeds with sufficient force to fly for distances of up to 10 m, thus another alternative name "Snapping Hazel".

Many thanks to Mike Gannon of Mayo Photography Club for arranging not just the boat, but the incredible weather, for exploring the two islands of Inishkea. The islands were abandoned in the 1930s, after ten islandmen were lost in a sudden storm that struck when they were out fishing in their currachs. In a community that had to be wholly self-reliant, there was not the strength left to be able to continue, after such loss of life. Click on image to view large!

Masouleh is a village in the Gilan Provence of Iran, historical names for the village include Maasalar and Khortab, it was founded in the 10th century CE, and it's current population is estimated to be around 800 persons.
Geography and climate:
Masouleh is approximately 60 km southwest of Rasht and 25 km west of Fuman. The village is 1050 meters above sea level in the Alborz (or Elburz) mountain range, near the southern coast of the Caspian Sea. The village itself has a difference in elevation of 100 meters.
Fog is the predominate weather feature of Masouleh.
Architecture
Masouleh architecture is unique. The buildings have been built into the mountain and are interconnected. Courtyards and roofs both serve as pedestrian areas similar to streets. Masouleh does not allow any motor vehicles to enter, due to its unique layout. It is the only village in Iran with such a prohibition, however, the small streets and many stairs simply also wouldn't make it possible for vehicles to enter.
Yellow clay coats the exterior of most buildings in Masouleh, this allows for better visibility in the fog.

Spent a good chunk of time this afternoon organizing my stash and putting some pretty stuff out in my bookshelf (ikea's expedit).
This is a selection based pretty much purely on colour, secondarily on how likely I am to use it in the next while (this would be the more likely to be used yarns).
