The Atlas area is an informal area within the Vasastaden district in Stockholm's inner city. The name derives from the workshop company AB Atlas, which in turn was named after the giant Atlas, one of the titans in Greek mythology. Atlas' workshops were located here until 1927.
Berat Castle is a fortress overlooking the town of Berat, Albania. It dates mainly from the 13th century and contains many Byzantine churches in the area and Ottoman mosques. It is built on a rocky hill on the left bank of the river Osum and is accessible only from the south. After being burned down by the Romans in 200 B.C., the walls were strengthened in the 5th century under Byzantine Emperor Theodosius II, and were rebuilt during the 6th century under the Emperor Justinian I and again in the 13th century under the Despot of Epirus, Michael I Komnenos Doukas, cousin of the Byzantine Emperor. The castle was under the rule of John Komnenos Asen in the mid-14th century The main entrance, on the north side, is defended by a fortified courtyard and there are three smaller entrances.
The fortress of Berat in its present state, even though considerably damaged, remains a magnificent sight. The surface that it encompasses made it possible to house a considerable portion of the cities inhabitants. The buildings inside the fortress were built during the 13th century and because of their characteristic architecture are preserved as cultural monuments. The population of the fortress was Christian, and it had about 20 churches (most built during the 13th century) and only one mosque, for the use of the Turkish garrison (of which there survives only a few ruins and the base of the minaret). The churches of the fortress were damaged through years and only some have remained.
Meadow area beyond spinney. Left uncut throughout the summer in order the wildflowers may flourish from May to September. Scythed carefully at the end of September this is the only time of year when the meadow is cut. The others are grazed by the goats for most of the year.
I battled deep sand, razor sharp rocks and reptilian shape shifters to get to this little know government base deep in the red rock desert of the American Southwest. Ran into Bob Lazar under an alcove and had martinis before heading off to Groom Lake in a custom built UFO supplied by the DOE....

The redesign of the Delft train station started in 1999. The project's goal was to move the two tracks underground in order to reduce noise pollution in the tiny, quaint city centre. In 2015 the new station building opened and trains ran successfully through the new tunnels. By 2020, they aim to have the old infrastructure (platforms and viaduct) removed.
Track 1 and track 2. Up the stairs in the main hall there are signs to tracks 3 and 4. The arrows point ambiguously toward the stairs you see in this picture, yet only two tunnels were built.
This was one of those times that the subject I was after changed drastically. When I got up this morning I had every intention of taking pictures of the Capitol at dawn. Then I saw the fog and decided to go fog chasing instead. Well I am pretty sure it was a great change of plans. I hope you all enjoy the scene I had this morning as much as I did.
Inside the Blue Mosque there is a large area roped off from visitors for prayers.

I love this place, recently found by us its a photographers playground.. lots of people know about it, but access is limited and it's soon to be redeveloped apparently...
The abandoned pool at Atherfield holiday centre on the Isle of Wight again providing a grungy setting for the Galactic arch of the Milky Way..
Though essentially the same image, this version used 18 frames as opposed to 16 in "Area 51", i used more clarity control on the sky and played with saturation and contrast, while keeping the sky as noise free as possible.

A lazy light rain fell over CN's Montreal area shop trackage where 50's and 70's engine still sat, side by side, on a daily basis with the newer generation of motive power.
GP38-2 4724, one of the ugliest looking engine of the fleet, should likely be repainted, as many of its sister, in the upcoming months.

The best of the Autumn colours come in such a small area in my local woods, but you can get a few little scenes from it.
In true Warbler fashion this one kept to the upper reaches of the trees near the Natives Plants Area, just outside of the UCSC Arboretum.
@ What Plant...I am interested in birds, but knowing trees would help! I think this is a California Native tree, but one never knows!
