Rich source of archtecture, nice views of the river Rhine: Köln-Bayenthal is a neighbourhood of Cologne, Germany and part of the district of Rodenkirchen. Bayenthal lies on the left bank of the river Rhine, between the district of Innenstadt to the North and Marienburg neighbourhood to the South. The borders to these are defined by the Southern Bridge (Südbrücke) and the Bayenthalgürtel of the Cologne Belt respectively. To the West, Bayenthal borders with Raderberg.
It combines the residential neighbourhoods from adjacent Marienburg with former industrial areas next to the old "Dom" brewery.[1][2] Bayenthal has 8.473 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2008) and covers an area of 1,28 km² (pop.density of 6.620 inhab./km²). The neighbourhood is served by Cologne Stadtbahn line 16.
This isnt the best photo. Being in this room was unsetling. The padding from the walls had gone leaving only the wooden frame that held them in place, but the floor was still intact.
This beautiful house was up for sale and is on the buildings at risk register www.buildingsatrisk.org.uk/ref_no/1292
Description
2-storey and attic, 5-bay, near symmetrical, rectangular-plan crowstepped gabled house, abutting further house (also Number 43, listed separately) forming L-plan on NW and SW sides of courtyard respectively, opening onto Albert Street. Roughly squared, harl-pointed rubble with painted sandstone dressings. Plain margins to openings.
Formerly home to Patrick Traill. With its gabled end facing the street, the principal elevation forms an attractive courtyard opening off the main thoroughfare; the courtyard retains its traditional Caithness flagstones. The house remains intact in form and its plain symmetrical frontage of 5-bays renders it a substantial town house. 43 Albert Street (II) is the older of the two properties. The Cole House (sometimes spelt Kool) Hurley, New York. Late 1600's with later additions.
The steeply pitched roof is characteristic of early Dutch houses in the Hudson Valley (the dormers are 19th century additions). The design is derived from Dutch medieval houses that had steeply pitched roofs in order to rapidly shed water from the thatch or pantile roofing.
Esopus Indians were the first inhabitants of the hamlet of Hurley. The first European settlement was in June 1662 when five men in Albany ,NY, petitioned the Dutch New Netherlands Colony to establish a village to the south west of Kingston called Nieu Dorp (new village). In September 1664 the entire New Netherland Colony was surrendered by the Dutch to the English and in 1669 Nieu Dorp was renamed Hurley.
The earlist part of this house was probably built not much later.
Prato is close to several of Europe’s most significant cities and esteemed institutions – thirty minutes from Florence and the European University Institute in Fiesole, one hour from Bologna – home to Europe’s oldest university, two hours from Rome, and three hours from Milan.
The Peninsula campus was originally a teachers college at Frankston, a south-eastern suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. The college gained independence from the Education Department in 1973 and became known as the State College at Frankston.

You can't actually drive down to the cove but it's not far from where you have to park. It's a pretty walk. This cottage is on the way!
Situated on Kay Street, Blackpool, at its junction with Bethesda Street this retaining/boundary wall separates the higher level, Seasiders Way from Kay Street.
It is almost certainly the original wall built by the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway as a boundary wall. Seasiders Way and the adjacent car were built along the course of the old multiple tracks of the railway lines that ran into the now demolished Blackpool Central Railway Station.
This extremely well constructed wall probably dates back to 19th century.
Was there a tunnel built for the same purpose as the one at Princess Street, to allow Bethesda Street to continue through to the Promenade side of the railway? Was this bricked up when the Chapel Street Bridge was built?

Break yourself through the clouds
and build above those sleepy buildings
Mistified by your capabilities
all is yours if you can handle
Visable from higher than the sky
Plane and simple,
the facts are at your feet
Stones are snoring
Walls are breathing loud
Roofs are poking
Into cosmic mouth
Start the artifact
and build above those sleepy buildings
Only you
know what is the absolute best
Stones are snoring
Walls are breathing loud
Roofs are poking
Into cosmic mouth
