Amarillo, Texas a courtyard at a local First Baptist Church was a little piece of solitude away from the hectic life. Sitting here was our time to reflect and a time to remember our loved ones.
For Sliders Sunday... a take on one of the most photographed buildings in Toronto... the Gooderham or Flatiron Building. I like the contrast this provides with the tall modern office buildings behind.
Hiking the trails of New Mexico brought a picture perfect scenery which we imagined to be a small postcard. The beauty of the clouds, mountains brought the buildings to life

Designed by Victor Lundy and built in 1962, Unitarian Meeting House in Hartford is sited at the base of a sloped park. The circular church has tweleve concrete curved diameter-line fin walls, and steel bridge cables that support the sweeping, cedar plank roof. The tent-like wooden ceiling evokes the rays of the sun.
As one side of the house had a chimney shaped as a bottle, the other side has a woman. This unique house also has two old gas pumps, but is it really a house? It's more an antique shop on Nob Hill in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Buildings complex used mostly by students of Southern California Institute of Architecture (it is located on the opposite side of the street).
Fall is here at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut.
The house was designed by Edward Tuckerman Potter, an architect from New York City. When it was being built, the Hartford Daily Times noted, "The novelty displayed in the architecture of the building, the oddity of its internal arrangement and the fame of its owner will all conspire to make it a house of note for a long time to come."
Previously the State Mosque of Sarawak and an integral part of the Kuching landscape, the Kuching Mosque; affectionately known as ‘Masjid Lama’ (Old Mosque), the present structure was built in 1968 to replace an original wooden one built in 1852. Best seen from the river, its gilded cupolas make it one of the city’s most striking landmarks, particularly at sunset.

The newly renovated TWA Hotel: The TWA terminal, now still Terminal 5 at JFK, is Eero Saarinen's most well known works, one of the best examples of mid-century modern architecture.
A windmill structure in the foreground and modern glass and metal buildings in the background tell a tale of renewable energy in Calgary, Canada.
When capturing this particular angle of the building, I wanted to highlight the dialogue between the cyan cylinders and the glass surface that reflects them. What fascinated me was how these structural elements cross the space like notes on a musical staff. The choice of this low-angle view accentuates the verticality and creates a visual tension between the immaculate sky and the geometric rigor of the architecture.
The cyan tint of the columns is no accident - it evokes both the coldness of metal and the fluidity of water, creating a striking contrast with the black surface that absorbs and transforms this color. I sought to capture a moment where architecture transcends its functionality to become an abstract composition, where each element finds its place in a perfect balance between structural rigor and visual poetry.

Santa Fe has many one way streets, dead end streets or if your lucky, one you can back up without getting rear ended. This is a local pizza place who's alley way is narrow, but it was worth it for great food.
The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (LRCBH), officially the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, opened on May 21, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada that is operated by the Cleveland Clinic and was designed by the world-renowned architect Frank Gehry. Keep Memory Alive (also known as KMA) was founded by Larry Ruvo, senior managing partner of Southern Wines and Spirits, in memory of his father, Lou Ruvo, a victim of Alzheimer's Disease, together with his wife Camille, Mirage Resorts CEO Bobby Baldwin (who also lost his father to Alzheimer's Disease), and Bobby Baldwin's wife Donna. KMA supports the mission of the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and has held several star-studded galas, attended by celebrities and notables from around the world. It has become one of Las Vegas' most important charity initiatives and a key participant in the nation fight against Alzheimer's disease. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $20 million towards achieving its goal – the realization of the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health. Funds committed by such supporters as the Spector Family Foundation, the Roland and Terri Sturm Foundation, Steinberg Diagnostics, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and America Online will be utilized for the construction and operation of this state-of-the-art facility. The Center is planned to become a national resource for the most current research and scientific information for the treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington 's Diseases, Multiple Sclerosis and ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) as well as focusing on prevention, early detection and education. The ceremonial groundbreaking of the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health occurred on February 9, 2007. Dignitaries who attended the groundbreaking ceremonies for the $70 million project included founder Larry Ruvo, Frank Gehry, U.S. Senator Harry Reid and John Ensign; U.S. Representative Shelley Berkley, Jon Porter and Dean Heller, Gov. Jim Gibbons, Mayor Oscar Goodman, former Gov. Kenny Guinn, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Spacey, and John Cusack. The Center operates as an outpatient treatment and research facility in downtown Las Vegas on land deeded to Keep Memory Alive, the fund raising arm of LRCBH, by the City of Las Vegas as part of its 61 acres (25 ha) Symphony Park. The Center is approximately 65,000 sq ft (6,000 m2) and includes 13 examination rooms, offices for health care practitioners and researchers, a "Museum of the Mind," and a community auditorium. The Center will also serve as the headquarters for Keep Memory Alive, the Las Vegas Alzheimer's Association and the Las Vegas Parkinson's Disease Association.
