I've been waiting for a long time for this moment. And then it's here - very good conditions for fog formation at sunrise in Palatine Forest(Rhineland-Palatinate). The location was chosen the day before. It should be Castle Wegelnburg in the southern Palatinate region- one of the most beautiful places in Germany. 2,5 hours of driving and 40 min uphill walking have been worth the effort. It was the most gorgeous view I ever saw in my life.

The Stockholm archipelago is the largest archipelago in Sweden, and the second-largest archipelago in the Baltic Sea (the largest being across the Baltic in Finland).
Today the archipelago is a popular holiday destination with some 50,000 holiday cottages (owned mainly by Stockholmers). Visiting the larger islands in the archipelago is easy all year round, but during winter period the routes depend on the ice conditions. Several companies have regular routes.
One of the most wonderous spectacles that I've had the privledge of experiencing is sailing through Stockholm Archipelago. Totally majestic and awesome in it's beauty, it's no wonder that it's inspired so many poets, authors, artists & songwriters. I long to go back one day and stay on one of those Islands. This was quite far out from the mainland just before diasppearing into the open waters of the Baltic.

I was interested in this short series to move away from the wholly personal & towards the personal as political. I saved each piece of plastic I consumed over a week & instead of recycling them, I took a blow torch and melted them down. When you see plastic in its liquid state its petrochemical origins become clear. So I 'moulded' the plastic into little islands to suggest both landfill & its limited mineral source. The sculptural qualities of the images are only visible as a photograph, therefore the nature of form & function is at play.

Today is October 1st 2022 marking my 13th year on Flickr. In that time I've posted almost 4,750 photos and accumulated some stats. I make a summary of them each year even though the numbers don't really reflect actual views anymore, due to the tubulent history of the Flickr infrastructure.
