Still at the Grounds for Sculpture, we become part of some of the artwork. You'll see us in some of the future uploads, too.

Today, although we have stormy weather, I'm hoping to make it to Cape Canaveral for the launch of the space shuttle tomorrow. And, my heart goes out to those devastated by the huge storms once again last night.

EXPLORED! (thanks)

Happy birthday mom!!!

April showers bring May flowers :) I can't wait! I'm really stretching my macro abilities this time around. I have my full set-up complete. A dedicated lens, some extension tubes, a great external flash! Life is good!

PS- check out the cells of the plant! Yay for curved surfaces and refraction!

Say hello to April, blue sky and plumeria.

I try to begin each day watching for the sunrise at the horizon. As Spring is approaching Summer, the dawn light from my vantage point is going from a southern horizon back to a more northern edge. Each daybreak can be so different from all others and the light is dynamic. Sometimes it is vibrant with streams of light. Sometimes it is muted. Often, it may change quickly after only a few of my blinks or pivots. I remain grateful for each day.

With the Daffs! (I love daffodils. <3)

In a fine example of "You can't keep a good company down", here is Hearne's temporary new shop on the quayside in Waterford, in business exactly 3 weeks after a devastating fire on Friday, 2 April.

The Great Fire Salvage Sale was for 4 days only, and began on the day this photo was taken.

The boat behind Hearne's shop has been identified by ofarrl as the Portlairge, a steam dredger known around Waterford as the Mudboat:

"Built in 1907 by the Dublin Dockyard Co. she was the last working steamship in Ireland when she was retired in 1980."

Meanwhile Niall McAuley found the Portlairge at its new home in Saltmills, Co. Wexford.

As the Soviets surround the capital of the Großdeutsches Reich, Berlin, the German defenders, Wehrmacht, SS, and civilians alike are making the final preparations for what will become one of the deadliest battles in the history of warfare. Not even the walking wounded are spared from the carnage.

“The war is nearly over. Everyone feels it, I know, but nobody voices it. Being a tank commander in a city is absolute hell, I must say. Everywhere you go there is risk of a sniper perched in an apartment building, ready to blow your brains out. The SS soldiers show nothing but ferocity. Fools, I say. Death is not something they fear, but they fear the possibility of failure. Damn fanatics. They've been rounding up anyone who makes a defeatist comment.”

a warm day in April

Is my birth month. The 19th of April to be exact.

And I have a birthday wish. Mail. Envelopes. Anything, a modest wish for something to pop into my mail box. Send me an artificial hug. The letters "HUG". A picture? A drawing? A mixtape?! No, that would be too much. But I'd really love it.

An Interview with April-Lea Hutchinson -

April is a film photographer and model from London, Ontario. Shooting primarily with Polaroid and Holga cameras, April says in her own words – “I look for emotion to tell a story and reveal the beauty in my characters. Beyond the aesthetic qualities imparted by instant film and long exposures, my empathetic relationship with the person in front of the camera infuses my images with comfortable intimacy and perhaps a touch of nostalgia.”
