The Wiedner Gürtel in Vienna. Behind the colourful buildings there are the Belvedere and the Botanical Garden. Most of my flower photos are from there - my front door isn't very far.

Although we do have the occasional hour of sunshine it's still mostly (freezing) cold and nasty. I feel so sorry for all the young animals that are born now.

Anyway, I finally got my second jab today and it'll be interesting how the mixing of vaccines will work out. Back in February I got the AstraZeneca vaccine, but due to the issue with rare blood clots I was now able to choose which vaccine I wanted this time. I opted for Biontech/Pfizer, and now I'll just have to wait and see ;-)

During the Roman Republic, several dates were given for the founding of the city of Rome, between 753 BC and 728 BC.

(The Roman a.u.c. calendar, however, begins with Varro's dating of 753 BC.)

Although the proposed years varied, all versions agreed that the city was founded on April 21, the day of the festival sacred to Pales, goddess of shepherds; in her honour, Rome celebrated the Par ilia (or Palilia).

"APRIL this year, not otherwise

Than April of a year ago

Is full of whispers, full of sighs,

Dazzling mud and dingy snow.”

On arrival at Swarkestone Pavillion on Saturday morning I was delighted to find a thin veil of mist hovering above the ground. Mist in April isn't especially common, so this was an unexpected bonus and my next challenge was to compose an image that would make the most of it. This proved very difficult and I was especially concerned about the lack of separation between the left hand tree and the trees in the distance behind it.

With so much to be troubled about let us keep hold of all that is wholesome and good in our lives.

I'm afraid I am not able to follow any more members or post to groups.

Thank you for viewing, have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
