A last glimpse at April 2012 in our yard. . . I guess this is a result of the incredibly mild Minnesota winter.

Let me just start by saying: Yes. I know this is (maybe more than) a bit crazy. It also means that the budget for the rest of the year has shrunk considerably.
But this is mainly the result of two events: The annual Norwegian LUG event, PÃ¥ Kloss Hold, in Trondheim in late April, and the 10th Eurobricks Event in Billund in early May.
There's a few gifts and contest prizes in there, so I didn't pay for all this. Some of the sets are duplicates. And there's not much in the picture that I paid full retail for. But it's still a lot of money... :)
Highlights (I'd put notes in the picture, but those have become so hard to find that it's really no use anymore):
1) The LEGO Houses - I got a few of them in Billund. Just because they're exclusive.
2) The new Creator houses, #31026. Looking forward to building those.
3) All the Master Builder Academy sets - bought at ridiculous prices in Billund. Hooray! They're not normally available in Europe.
4) The Simpsons House!
5) My third Technic set, after #8070 and #41999: #42000, Grand Prix Racer. I enjoy Technic stuff just to get a different building experience every now and then.
6) The Trevi Fountain! Not officially out yet, but it somehow ended up on the shelf in my local toy store anyway. It's a very nice one, although it's obviously lacking in detail because of the scale.
7) No, unfortunately that's not a Marina Bay Sands set - but at least I got the building instructions. I'll probably piece it together just to have it on the shelf with all the other Architecture sets.
8) And finally, the two event sets from the Eurobricks Event in Billund: The LEGO Store vignette and the lovely remake of the yellow castle. The instructions for the latter one have been signed by Daniel Krentz, whom I have been fortunate enough to get to know a little bit. Wait a minute, you say you don't know who he is?
He designed the original legendary #375 Yellow Castle back in 1978. Really.
PS: I know I haven't posted much new content lately. But I've just photographed four new MOCs that I'll be uploading over the next week or so - and there's a new modular building coming, too, that I haven't been able to take pictures of yet. So have patience :)
I had taken these back in April and for whatever reason never got around to processing them. Fun to go back through things you'd forgotten about, especially when the sunrises and sunsets have been as dull as they have been around here lately. HDR 3xp.

Today is a very special day for me. For it is the day that both of my children came into my life, one year apart.
After trying for 5 years to conceive without success, we began the process of adoption 7 years ago. When we were denied by Taiwan because of our young age, we made plans to adopt from Ethiopia later that year instead.
Then we received a phone call from our adoption agency on April 8th, 2005. A baby girl was born at our local hospital and the birthmom wanted to meet us. Within two hours of that phone call, we were holding our new daughter in our arms. She was less than a day old and the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
A few months later another miracle occurred, I found out that I was pregnant. Exactly one year after our daughter came into our lives, our son was born.
I am the most blessed mother in the world and this date will forever hold a special place in my heart ♥
Today is MY mother's day :)

A heavy late April snow brought down some small trees along the trail at the Richardson Nature Center in West Bloomington, Minnesota.

Goosander,
The largest " sawbill ", with a long, serrated bill for grasping fish, the Goosander is more of a freshwater bird thanthe Red-breasted Merganser, especially outside the breeing season, It is found in small groups in winter, often looking remarkably large on small inland lakes and pits on still, misty dats, In summer, breeding pairs prefer opland reservoirs and shallower, fast-flowing, clear streams,Usually a shy bird, the Goosander is easily scared off even at long range,
Lazy Males,
In winter, male Goosanders swim about on open water, often drifting inactive for long periods, Males look like the females in summer

Breeds beside rivers and lakes in Iceland, Scandinavia, and N Great Britain, Winters south to Balkns and France, mostly on fresh water, Bigger flocks mostly in regular sites on larger reservoirs, smaller numbers on pits or rivers,

Into April, and for the first time in a long long time I am uploading photos from the current month - only just!
I've been making an effort to catch up. It is so easy to fall further and further behind.

For a while 2976 carried this allover livery until 1995. This bright colur did brigten up the colur scheme. 2976 seen working route 105A in 1993.

Some time later,in a different tractor,i ran out of time and had to spend the night here.
Back then there was a KFC on the corner of Mill Lane and the main road.
I went in to buy my supper,i was the only customer.
I gave my order to the lad behind the counter who carefully wrote it down on a order pad.
He tore the slip out and turned and carefully clipped it to a peg on a revolving disc hanging from the ceiling.
He then walked around the partition separating the counter area from the food preparation area.
He reached up,turned the disc till he could detach my order slip.
He carefully read it then made up my order which he then bought back round to the counter.
I took it from him and paid,then left.
He said nothing and kept a straight face all through this.
To this day i have no idea whether he always did this or not.
I have often wondered what he may have gone on to be a manager of.
