The early Mickey Mouse, probably produced in Europe. He has a pointed nose, but is already wearing gloves. It's a brass application to a radio now lost, probably dating from 1930. Unmarked, height 13,3 cm.
Always nice to see an old Mickey...
Tomorrow's International Blood Donor's Day. Today the Flemish Red Cross had organised a Donor's Day. We made a site of our own, where bloggers and twitterati could enlist. First we had lunch (or twunch) and then off to the centre! Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to give blood so I took pictures. All in all a grand day out.
I wasn't allowed to give blood because of low blood pressure (8/5 which seems to be freakishly low). *Sigh* As a consolation I had steak with a mushroom-pepper sauce. It was scrumptious. I felt better already ;)
O yeah, check out the site we made so people would enroll today to give blood: De Bloedgroep

As part of the RFP for Sky & Telescopes website, Interactive Factory wanted to include a screenshot of what their proposed sky chart application would look like. This dual-view GUI design is what I provided. The actual Java applet was coded by someone else, but I did provide the layout graphics, colors, and elements.
Heatersare typically mounted along the perimeter of the space when applicable. Door areas are stacked with extra units, or tube heater burner boxes are located by doors to provide extra heat. Care is taken to avoid violating the published clearances to combustibles with doors in the open position and/or lifts (with cars on them) in the up position. Common applications also utilize tubes located between lift rows (center of the building) or along side a wall with the heat shined inward. Outside combustion air is highly recommended. Lastly, do not place any heater inside of a paint booth

Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when supplied in adequate amounts, confer health benefits to the host and
improve the intestinal microflora. However, probiotics are sensitive to several factors during processing
and ingestion. Adhesion of probiotic strains to the intestinal surface and the subsequent colonization of
the human gastrointestinal tract has been suggested as an important prerequisite for probiotic action.
The events underlying healthy effects are now beginning to be understood mainly from in vivo and in vitro
studies of host intestinal epithelial cell or immune cell responses to probiotic strains.
Therefore, the aim of this research is to evaluate the morphology
and nanomechanical properties of probiotic bacteria from commercial products.

This cake was done for a 40th birthday. She sent me descriptions of the apps that she wanted and I created each one individually. The top layer of the cake was yellow and the bottom was red velvet. It was filled with chocolate mousse and the crumb coat was cream cheese frosting.
