White Rock is an oceanfront city in British Columbia, Canada, and a member municipality of Metro Vancouver.
White Rock has a moderate climate, with average daily high temperatures of 23 degrees Celsius in summer and 6 degrees Celsius in winter.
White Rock is named for a distinctive large white boulder on its beach near the promenade, a glacial erratic that migrated south during the last glaciation. The 486-ton granite boulder was kept white by shellfish-eating seabirds whose guano covered the rock, so much so that 19th-century sailors used it as a beacon. However, it is now kept white through monthly applications of white paint by the city parks department, and has been a popular graffiti target for over thirty years.
Legend.
The large, white rock is mentioned in the legends of the local Coast Salish peoples. One legend says that the white rock marks the landing spot of a stone that was hurled across the Strait of Georgia by a young chief It was said that he and his bride would move from Vancouver Island to wherever the rock landed to make a home together.

I had the pleasure to travel to San Francisco this summer with my family. It's such a beautiful city and there are so many wonderful picturesque locations to choose from, truly a photographer's paradise. Since I hadn't been there in 10 years, I decided to reshoot several of the famous landmarks, the Golden Gate Bridge being my main interest as I had never seen it without tons of fog. During the few days I was there, the weather was unseasonably warm and again, thick layers of fog blanketed the bridge nearly every day, almost completely blocking out the sunsets. On the last evening before we had to leave, I decided to make the trek out to Fort Point for one of the many postcard views. Just as I got there, as if on queue, the fog began to lift as the sun went down. I ran (literally) up and down the beach to try and find the best location and fired off several sets. The sunset was amazing... Orange to purple to blue... I had never seen anything quite like it and had a hard time getting back behind the camera as I just wanted to sit there and soak it all in. When I got back home, this was my favorite of the bunch as it really captured the full color gradient of the sunset that had been enhanced by the lifting fog. In addition, I really liked how the last few rays of sunlight poked through and highlighted the trees over on the left, with the one solo tree on top of the hill almost perfectly framed by the bridge arch. The sailboat was a total bonus and couldn't have sailed through at a better time.
About the shot, this is an HDR composed of 9 different exposures to cover the full dynamic range of color in the magnificent sunset as well as the famous red color of the bridge. The longer exposures in the set did a great job of capturing the motion in the waves as they crashed against the rocky shoreline. Once the 9 shots were stitched together, I just did some standard post processing in Photoshop (curves, contrast, sharpening).
Sorry to all my Flickr friends who haven't seen much of me lately. Work has been full of unexpected changes and has taken much of my focus recently. The good news is that I've been out on several shoots over the summer and have at least 20 sets to still sift through and process. I'll post them over the coming weeks. I should be back in full swing and look forward to catching up on my contacts' streams and going through the hundred+ friend requests I've received recently. Please be patient if I don't get to you right away or comment on every image but please know that I enjoy going through everyone's streams and taking time to appreciate all your wonderful work. Hope you all have a fantastic week!

Jahrhundert die Einfälle der Franken aus dem rechtsrheinischen Raum immer häufiger wurden, erbauten die Römer eine Kette von Militärkastellen am linken Rheinufer. 14 Jh.: Rheinverlagerung, das ursprünglich linksrheinisch erbaute Haus Bürgel liegt seitdem auf der rechten Rheinseite. Das Kastell, auf dessen heute noch sichtbaren Fundamenten Haus Bürgel ruht, besaß dicke Mauern und zwölf Türme. Im frühen Mittelalter wurde auf der Ruine des Kastells eine fränkische Burganlage errichtet.

The fort, on whose foundations Haus Bürgel still rests today, had thick walls and twelve towers. In the early Middle Ages, a Frankish castle complex was built on the ruins of the fort.

Bodyfy is bimontly event (april, june, august, october, december) that regroup designers of different background that will present their creations in one location. The general theme is connected to everything that touches the skin (skin, tattoo, makeup , scarification , henna , piercing , jewelry, body part, mesh head and more.) The style is industrial, alternative, grunge or other similar style. Clothes are not allowed at this event.
This event is for women, men or unisex items. Bodyfy opening on December 8th and ends on Dec 24 th. Each designer will have to create one exclusive item related the theme and it’s not a discount event. We are reaching for high quality items and there is no prices limit.

Time: Months after the battle of Geonosis
This place is horrid. I have been stuck here for months now.Soon I will be transferred to a new unit, the 253rd. I was stationed here after the succesful invasion during which most of my unit was killed.Our outpost was quickly constructed and is undermanned.Everyone here wants to leave but it looks like I am the only one that will be leaving soon. The planet is nothing but dust, dirt and debris from the recent battle. Hopefully this 253rd legion will be better than here.

We were told that on Generis only a small Separatist army was in place. They told us that 5% percent chance of us even seeing some clankers. Well, they were wrong. Down two men and only half way back to base. Bolt and Cleaver put up a good fight but they were eventually overwhelmed. Now we gotta fight through half a war zone if we ever want to live another day.
That false information lost me two good men and once we get back, boy, they ain't gonna hear the end of it

Trust me it looks better in person, i'm still coming to grips with this new camera :P I haven't built star wars in a long long time so i'm a bit rusty but I think it came out good. Not great, but good. My favorite part would have to be the base, I love that ruined feel. Lefkta Victory Monument(Trophy)
Η Μάχη των Λεύκτρων ήταν μια από τις πλέον περισπούδαστες μάχες της αρχαιότητας, από πλευράς στρατιωτικής τακτικής.
Η περίφημη αυτή μάχη, μεταξύ Σπαρτιατών και Θηβαίων, που διεξήχθη το 371 π.Χ. στα Λεύκτρα της Βοιωτίας, στην οποία και νικήθηκαν οι μέχρι τότε θεωρούμενοι αήττητοι Σπαρτιάτες, έδωσε αφενός μεν τέλος στην Πελοποννησιακή Συμμαχία αφετέρου χάρισε στους Θηβαίους την ηγεμονική τους θέση στον τότε ελλαδικό χώρο.
Αφορμή στον μεταξύ Σπάρτης και Θηβών αυτόν πόλεμο έδωσε η στάση του θηβαίου στρατηγού Επαμεινώνδα στο συνέδριο των ελληνικών πόλεων-κρατών που είχε συνέλθει στη Σπάρτη μετά την Ανταλκίδειο ειρήνη. Αυτός τότε επέμενε στο συνέδριο ν' αναγνωρισθεί ως αντιπρόσωπος όλων των Βοιωτικών πόλεων και όχι μόνο της Θήβας. Οι αντιπρόσωποι των άλλων πόλεων όχι μονο δεν το δέχθηκαν, αλλά απέκλεισαν τους Θηβαίους από το συνέδριο. Τότε οι Έφοροι της Σπάρτης διέταξαν επιπρόσθετα, προκειμένου να πτοήσουν τους Θηβαίους, τον ευρισκόμενο στη Φωκίδα και κοντά στη περιοχή, Σπαρτιάτη βασιλέα Κλεόμβροτο να εισβάλει στη Βοιωτία. Οι Σπαρτιάτες αριθμούμενοι σε 11.000 έφθασαν στην περιοχή και στρατοπέδευσαν στη κοιλάδα των Λεύκτρων, ανατολικά του Ελικώνα. Οι Θηβαίοι ανερχόμενοι σε 6.000 έφθασαν στη περιοχή από βόρεια και στην αρχή δείλιασαν. Ο στρατηγός τους Επαμεινώνδας τους ενθάρρυνε και εφήρμοσε για πρώτη φορά στην ιστορία των μέχρι τότε πολέμων μια νέα στρατιωτική τακτική η οποία και τον ανέδειξε σε έναν από τους ευφυέστερους στρατηγούς όλων των εποχών.
Αντί της τακτικής τής ενιαίας γραμμής μετώπου που ακολουθείτο μέχρι τότε, χώρισε τη φάλαγγά του σε δύο τμήματα εκ των οποίων το ένα διενεργούσε επίθεση και το άλλο άμυνα. Η παράταξη αυτή κλήθηκε από τον εφευρέτη της λοξή φάλαγγα, ο δε τρόπος λειτουργίας αυτής ήταν ο εξής: Την κύρια δράση είχε η αριστερή πτέρυγα της επίθεσης, που προηγείτο της γραμμής μετώπου. Στηριζόμενη στο ενισχυμένο βάθος της εκ 50 ανδρών, είχε ως κύριο σκοπό τη διάσπαση της εχθρικής παράταξης. Η ολιγότερο ισχυρή δεξιά αμυντική πτέρυγα παρέμενε καθηλωμένη σε αναμονή του αποτελέσματος, προκειμένου να επέμβει και να προκαλέσει σύγχυση στην πληττόμενη και πλευροκοπούμενη σπαρτιατική φάλαγγα. Έτσι, αν το απέναντι σπαρτιατικό τμήμα επιχειρούσε αντεπίθεση δεξιά της θηβαϊκής πτέρυγας επίθεσης, η θηβαϊκή πτέρυγα άμυνας προχωρούσε σε περικυκλωτική επίθεση. Αν συνέβαινε το αντίθετο, αν δηλαδή το σπαρτιατικό τμήμα προέβαινε σε επίθεση στα αριστερά της θηβαϊκής πτέρυγας επίθεσης, τότε η θηβαϊκή πτέρυγα άμυνας έστρεφε και πλευροκοπούσε τον εχθρό. Η όλη αυτή εφαρμογή τακτικής ομοιάζει με την εικόνα του δεξιόστροφου ή αριστερόστροφου πτερωτού κοχλία. Εν προκειμένω στη μάχη των Λεύκτρων η όλη διάταξη κινήθηκε δεξιόστροφα.
Στην αρχή ο Επαμεινώνδας εξαπέλυσε το ιππικό του κατά των προμαχούντων Σπαρτιατών ιππέων οι οποίοι βλέποντας να μην υποχωρεί η εχθρική γραμμή, κάμφθηκαν. Οι Θηβαίοι ιππείς της πτέρυγας επίθεσης στράφηκαν τότε κατά του κέντρου και του αριστερού εχθρικού τμήματος, ενώ ο Επαμεινώνδας με την αριστερή πτέρυγα της πεζής παράταξής του και ο Πελοπίδας με τον Ιερό Λόχο επιτέθηκαν με θυελλώδη ορμή κατά των Σπαρτιατών των οποίων η σθεναρή παράταξη διασπάσθηκε. Οι σύμμαχοι των Σπαρτιατών που είχαν παραταχθεί στο κέντρο και την αριστερή πτέρυγα, βλέποντας ότι οι Σπαρτιάτες ήταν ανίκανοι να συνεχίσουν τη μάχη, αποφάσισαν να υποχωρήσουν καταδιωκόμενοι από το θηβαϊκό ιππικό.
Οι απώλειες των θηβαϊκών δυνάμεων έφθασαν τους 300 άνδρες ενώ οι Σπαρτιάτες έχασαν γύρω στους 1.000 άνδρες, μεταξύ των οποίων και τον βασιλιά Κλεόμβροτο.

The Battle of Lefktra was one of the most studied battles of antiquity, in terms of military tactics.
This famous battle, between Spartans and Thebans, which took place in 371 BC. at Leuctra in Boeotia, in which the Spartans, considered invincible until then, were defeated, on the one hand it put an end to the Peloponnesian Alliance and on the other hand it gave the Thebans their hegemonic position in the then Greek area.
This war between Sparta and Thebes was caused by the attitude of the Theban general Epaminondas at the conference of the Greek city-states that had convened in Sparta after the Andalkidian peace. He then insisted at the conference to be recognized as the representative of all the Boeotian cities and not only Thebes. The representatives of the other cities not only did not accept it, but excluded the Thebans from the conference. Then the Prefects of Sparta additionally ordered, in order to deter the Thebans, the Spartan king Cleombrotos, who was in Phocis and nearby, to invade Boeotia. The Spartans numbering 11,000 arrived in the area and camped in the valley of Lefktra, east of Helikon. The Thebans numbering 6,000 arrived in the area from the north and at first were timid. Their general Epaminondas encouraged them and implemented for the first time in the history of the wars up to that time a new military tactic which made him one of the most intelligent generals of all time.
Instead of the tactic of the single front line followed until then, he divided his phalanx into two divisions, one of which carried out the attack and the other the defense. This formation was called by the inventor of the oblique phalanx, and its mode of operation was as follows: The main action was the left wing of the attack, which preceded the front line. Relying on its reinforced depth of 50 men, its main objective was to break up the enemy line. The less powerful right defensive wing remained pinned down to await the result, in order to intervene and cause confusion in the battered and flanked Spartan phalanx. Thus, if the opposing Spartan division attempted a counterattack to the right of the Theban attack wing, the Theban defense wing would advance in an encircling attack. If the opposite happened, that is, if the Spartan division attacked to the left of the Theban attack wing, then the Theban defense wing would turn and flank the enemy. This whole tactic application resembles the image of the clockwise or counter-clockwise propeller. In this case, in the battle of Lefktra, the whole arrangement moved clockwise.
At first Epaminondas unleashed his cavalry against the advancing Spartan horsemen who, seeing that the enemy line did not retreat, retreated. The Theban horsemen of the attacking wing then turned against the center and left of the enemy, while Epaminondas with the left wing of his infantry and Pelopidas with the Sacred Company charged with a storm against the Spartans, whose strong line was broken. The Spartan allies who had lined up in the center and left wing, seeing that the Spartans were unable to continue the battle, decided to retreat pursued by the Theban cavalry.
The losses of the Theban forces reached 300 men while the Spartans lost around 1,000 men, including King Cleombrotos.

Client work; she was a mermaid that sat on this rock and called all cute fishes to come and help brush her hair and make her pretty so she feels confident and signs to save the sailors from the dangerous virtual sea.
And description for my Visionaire application; snapshot was taken in-world on my sim, I've put her on Skye Studio's rock (modified) and rezzed (I think its from Dutchie) a mirror. Windlight and water settings are both modified so I don't really remember what I did, water was mirror water with some tiny adjustments.
Then in PS I cropped the original shot, added a water texture, used cloud brushes, those tiny sparkle brushes, fish texture for her hands, also the line between the human and mermaid area needed some fixing. I added an old ship that I found on DeviantArt gioja.deviantart.com/art/old-Ship-281913399. Fishes I had from before and can't find the link but its from DeviantArt too. And I drew few hair strands so that it looks like fishes are brushing her hair lol. Also I did tons of tiny dodging and burning and color mixing.

For a fun interlude, this is an alternative image based off one of my popular pics posted here on flickr in the last year+. This particular image was generated with the help of the FaceApp application, where I took a photo of the original "1995-Halloween pic3" pic I've posted here, then just applied a rather moderate filter. This was done in part to help with the graininess or the poor lighting in the original, to enhance the makeup a tad, and to have some fun. What do you think? How do I look? :-)
