Our event is a festival for people who code and design with passion. For one weekend in November, a community of smart, talented people come together to share ideas, build apps and get inspired - Pictures by ©Hichem Merouche.

Developing an iPhone application, on one's own, is a bit like this photo. You sometimes feel like you're being swallowed up by some enormous beast, way out of your depth, an insignificant mote in an enormous machine and any number of other similar metaphors. It's scary.

In the end, not being a programmer / software engineer / ubergeek I could only hope to produce something extremely basic, but once I got the idea my mind started working overtime.

To cut a long story short, I now do have an iPhone app available in the iTunes store and the same thing in the Google Play store for Android devices, and I'm chuffed to bits.

It's basic stuff and it's free, but it was worth it just to have done it and say that it exists I reckon.

All it does is give instant access to all my latest blog posts, which are: this blog - Paris and I, for my Paris Photo Chronicles; Nikon and Me for my fancy camera photographic musings and photo analyses; and my Paris If You Please blog for all my Paris quirks and curios.

Then there are links to my Flickr photo stream and my You Tube videos. And a messaging function which I've yet to see working and an about page.

That's it. But hopefully someone will find it useful. Who knows? Certainly not me. I've no idea if there's a market for such things, even if it is gratis! But there, it's another piece of madness over with so I can move on to the next one, whatever that may be.

If you feel like trying it out I'd love to know if it actually works, but friendly feedback isn't so necessary. I know it's about as basic as you could get and simply saves you from having to check a random stream of blog postings if you happen to like keeping up with my Paris and photo content. See you on iTunes or Google Play!

A glimpse of a perhaps profitable moment......Maybe.....

Heatersare typically mounted along the perimeter of the space when applicable. Door areas are stacked with extra units, or tube heater burner boxes are located by doors to provide extra heat. Care is taken to avoid violating the published clearances to combustibles with doors in the open position and/or lifts (with cars on them) in the up position. Common applications also utilize tubes located between lift rows (center of the building) or along side a wall with the heat shined inward. Outside combustion air is highly recommended. Lastly, do not place any heater inside of a paint booth

Securing the decal adhesive to the vehicle and removing any air bubbles or static.

WE DEVELOP superlative applications which prove to be top rung in the stepladder of your professional success. An absolutely intuitive, intelligent and Good Looking application is what we ensure.

Letter of Application and Testimonials for Oliver J. Lodge for the Chair of Experimental Physics at University College, Liverpool, 1881

Lodge was Assistant-Professor of physics at University College, London when he applied for the post at the newly established University College at Liverpool. His letter of application gives details of his academic career and his plans to establish a laboratory at Liverpool, to inspire students with a love of the subject, and to develop a programme of evening classes, mentioning his own experience of studying in the evenings and stating that he ‘should be glad to help young men in like condition’

The application includes testimonials from colleagues at University College, London, and the British Association for the Advancement of Science, and from his friend and mentor, Professor G. F. Fitzgerald.

During his time at Liverpool, Lodge lectured on the ether and discovered the electrostatic condensation of fog. He also carried out experiments on the electromagnetic field, producing electromagnetic waves guided along wires using discharge from a Leyden jar in 1888 during work on lightening conductors.

He returned to experiments with radio waves in the 1890s and, with the help of Alexander Muirhead, gave the first public demonstration of radio telegraphy, using the method of signaling in Morse code via long and short pulses. He demonstrated his radio-wave receiver apparatus at the British Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Liverpool in 1896. Lodge also lectured on X-rays in Liverpool the same year

This is a transmission electron micrograph taken at 200 kV, from a thin foil sample of "302AA" austenitic stainless steel. The sample was cold-deformed by rolling and then annealed at 704oC for one hour. The image shows recrystallised grains which which show uniform contrast because they are relatively free of dislocations, surrounded by a deformed matrix which has a high dislocation density. The recrystallised grain contains annealing twins (parallel bands with different contrast. The steps at the top left-hand corner are simply steps in annealing twin boundaries.Source: http://www.msm.cam.ac.uk/phase-trans/abstracts/annealing.twin.html.
