My Application for the Magika blogger search :)
Hair "Billie" by Magika
Mask by MUG (in Saturday sale this weekend)
We don't know how it happened, we first saw Billy on top of the aviary with its broken bill, then the following days he/she came down trying unsuccessfully to eat the food that we daily give to the stork colony. Now Billy is being fed until he/she will be strong enough to face the surgery for the application of a prosthesis.

If someone were to apply for National Register status for this building in Chinook, Oregon, the application might read something like this:
Summary Statement of Significance
The house at 692 is a well preserved example of a late 19th century vernacular Queen Anne cottage, representative of domestic architecture commonly erected in small towns and rural communities of the Pacific Northwest during the period of settlement and consolidation circa 1885 to 1905. Modest in scale yet rich in detail, the building embodies the characteristic adaptation of national architectural fashions to local materials, craftsmanship, and economic realities.
The house is a one and one half story wood frame dwelling with a steeply pitched intersecting gable roof clad in composition shingles. Its asymmetrical massing, front facing gable, and projecting porch align it squarely with the Queen Anne idiom, while the restrained ornamentation reflects the vernacular interpretation typical of non urban contexts. Particularly notable is the decorative shingle work in the front gable, arranged in a scalloped pattern and framed by delicately sawn bargeboards, which provides the primary decorative focus of the facade.
The full width front porch, supported by turned posts with ornate scroll cut brackets, remains intact and retains its original proportions and relationship to the main block of the house. The porch serves both as a transitional architectural element and as an expression of late Victorian domestic ideals emphasizing sociability and engagement with the street. Fenestration consists of vertically oriented double hung wood sash windows with simple surrounds, consistent with the period and largely unaltered. The front entrance retains historic fabric, including a paneled door with colored glass lights, adding a subtle yet distinctive decorative accent.
In form, materials, workmanship, and design, the house exhibits a high degree of integrity, with no major alterations that compromise its historic character. Later changes, such as roofing material replacement and minor exterior maintenance, are compatible and reversible, and do not detract from the buildings overall significance.
A noteworthy survival is the presence of early exterior storm windows, top-mounted and hinged, with their original metal attachment hardware intact and clearly visible.
This type of storm window—designed to be propped open at the bottom during warm weather for ventilation—was widely used in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as a practical response to seasonal climate variation, predating mechanical cooling. Their continued presence provides rare physical evidence of historic domestic practices, illustrating how occupants balanced insulation, airflow, and comfort using passive means.
Unlike later replacement storms or interior storm panels, these exterior units retain their historic mode of operation and relationship to the primary sash, contributing meaningfully to the building’s integrity of materials, workmanship, and feeling. The survival of both the storm windows and their operating hardware underscores the house’s high level of authenticity and careful stewardship over time.
The property is significant under Criterion C of the National Register of Historic Places as a representative and intact example of vernacular Queen Anne residential architecture. It illustrates the diffusion of architectural styles through pattern books and builders traditions, as well as the aspirations of middle class homeowners at the turn of the twentieth century. As such, the house contributes meaningfully to an understanding of regional architectural development and domestic life during a formative period in the area's history.

Sue and I have visited the Rockingham church twice previously, but we decided to take Brian and Heather on a photographic field trip while we were at the cottage in the autumn. I find this pioneer church, situated way up on a hill, to be fascinating. What an interesting climb to services that would have been on a wintry and slippery Sunday morning.
There are tombstones around the structure, some with fences, so I think it is an apt post for HFF.
© Anvilcloud Photography
The following tidbits are excerpted from the Pembroke Library
The Rockingham Church, formerly known as St. Leonard’s Anglican Church, was built in 1875, when the hamlet of Rockingham was a thriving community. Essentially abandoned 60 years ago, the church’s simple grace and imposing location high on a slope overlooking the village attract many visitors each year. A post and beam structure, the building is a unique survivor of its kind in Renfrew County and one of the oldest remaining buildings in the area. In 1999, the Townships of Brudenell, Lyndoch & Raglan designated the church a heritage site under the Ontario Heritage Act.
Evidence for the date of construction of the Rockingham Church is conflicting, but The Renfrew Mercury, May 28, 1875, reported:
New Church at Rockingham
The Protestant settlers at Rockingham have, with the assistance of a few kind friends, lately erected a commodious place of worship for the settlement ...
In 1882, the Anglican Mission Board granted $400 to the Bishop of Ontario toward the support of a missionary to be stationed at Rockingham, where there was “a genial society of church members, Mr. Watson and family being among them.” The Rev. A.W. MacKay arrived in early 1882 to take up the position. The Church Warden’s Accounts for the same year record expenses of $391.14 to improve the church with the addition of a porch, communion rail, and organ, most likely to complete it for use as an Anglican mission; at that time it was named St. Leonard’s Church. A stove was added in 1885, and a belfry and bell in 1891.
In 1975 and 1976, a group under the name Madawaska Association for Developmental Ecology (M.A.D.E.) repaired the back wall, reshingled the roof and arranged for the return of the pews. Apart from the visits of tourists, history buffs and artists, the church stood empty and decaying until 1995, when the Friends of the Rockingham Church formed to undertake the present rehabilitation of the building.
Architecture of the Rockingham Church
The church is constructed in conventional post and beam style, with board and batten siding of locally cut pine. The siding is for the most part the original wood, installed in 1875. The old shingles removed in 1974-75 were of cedar—it is hard to believe they could have been original after 100 years, but there is no record in the Church Warden’s accounts that shows earlier repairs or replacement.
The elegant curved pews are original to the Rockingham Church. They were removed to the Quadeville Pentecostal Church in the 1940s and returned in the mid-1970s. The original altar rail and pulpit remain, although the font was moved to the Union Church at Barry’s Bay.
The repairs undertaken in 1999 and 2000 uncovered extensive rot to the post and beam structure within the walls and at the ground, which had caused the increasing sag in the walls and roof. Siding boards were removed and numbered to allow repair and/or replacement of the 8” x 8” beams without disturbing the interior panelling. Rafter ends, too, were rotting where they sat on the wall top plates. These were reinforced with new lumber, unsound roof decking was replaced, and the roof was reshingled in new cedar. The steeple was removed for repairs and reshingling. After much debate, copper was chosen for the steeple shingles for its longevity and its appearance. Repairs were completed in July 2000.
The Friends of the Rockingham Church, Inc.
The Friends of the Rockingham Church formed in 1995, in response to the imminent threat of the church’s demolition. The Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, then the owner of the church, was concerned about the building’s deteriorating condition and applied to the municipality for a demolition permit. Local concerned citizens took action, prevailed upon the Diocese to delay and eventually waive the application. The group incorporated in 1997 and was designated a charitable organization by Revenue Canada. The purchase of the building was finalized in 1998.
The Friends continue to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance and insurance of the building and to support programs to publicize its historical value. Tax receipts are issued for all donations. Cheques may be made out to:

From the east (Killaloe or Eganville), turn off Hwy. 512 at Brudenell onto Renfrew County Road #66 (the Opeongo Line). Turn left onto Renfrew County Road #68 (the Letterkenny Road) and follow the signs to Rockingham. From the west (Combermere), turn off Hwy. 62 onto Hwy. 515. Searching small abandoned Jedi hideout in Malaastre system, large forest fields, everywhere you can be ambushed Zillo Beast or Dug raiders, isn't fun.
We got echo from Imperial Inteligence about group of one two Jedi masters and one Padawan, plus some humans still beliving in Jedi order hiding somewhere on northwest parts of the planet. Jedi with his Padawan got 501st. two days ago, they lost one just one member. We, 41st., splited on groups per 15 soldiers must order Palpatine's Order 66 followed his vision about order in Galaxy - kill next Jedi. 35 years old male human Jedi Master is our target and we can't fail. Intelligence says she should be hide in old Comunication outpost.
Then said web are almost here, first traces of civilization are antenna and some type of vaporator. We must moving silent, like says our training, be ready for everything. We are here, outpost on the clearing in the woods hidden in rocks. Everyone expects a snare but nothing happened yet. Control panel of main entry isn't in the best condition but looks like a working. New plan is raid in base, I must turn on night vision on my helmet because is twilight and the last rays of the sun aren't enough.
Bisk, leader of our group, counting in Mando'a: "rayshe’a, cuir, ehn, t'ad... solus...action!! Somebody opened doors and they all go inside. First blaser voice and... Bright blue light of lightsaber. "Is over, is over!" Bisk screaming.
Report for headquarters
Jedi we found was hidden in the abandoned Comunication outpost and was subsequently neutralized. He was surprised and did not cause much injury and no death. The body was burned and the lightsaber confiscated. The whole unit is now pointing to the pickup. CT-8678-55 ends

I would like to introduce new RPG group called Dark Times, group is focused on timeline after Order 66, for application - like me, you must make executing Order 66. I have to admit that with writing stories like this I have not had experience so far, and I have always admired the other work and time spent with it. But now I know it's really fun and fun as if you were writing your own book. This scene is from my Comunication base Zero 4, whitch I still own, but I also used it as good application scene.
Huge thanks for Photoshop mag, ruleyourgalaxy, for his fantastic edit, all comments about photo quality and cool effects deserves Malen. Without his help this will looks like boring and unprofessional made. Thank you Malen. Also huge thanks for other Dark Times members and admins for story inspiration, mostly [Banana Ketchup]
