The application of origami in social innovation, through the study of digital manufacturing, computational modelling and critical thinking
Ori Shelter combines origami and social innovation with digital fabrication – creating affordable, flat packable and self-sustained housing. Originally designed for the South African context, the product now aims to solve issues from homelessness to emergency situations like natural disasters. The Ori shelter is entirely foldable, and its shape resembles a small house, creating a sense of welcoming, appreciation, empowerment, maybe even home in extreme situations. The product is sustainable, reuses PVC truck covers and other recycled materials. Moreover, there was a thorough study concerning design for disassembly and ensuring that, at the end of its usage, the shelter is in turn recyclable. The base textile protects from outside climate and ensures privacy, while the solid tessellation provides structure and stability.

This is the online documentation for applying for a job at Aberdeen Council. I've noticed some interesting things with it's ethnic etc checks. It's better seen what I mean if you look at the image under the 'all sizes' tab.

COMPASS Adjunct Research Investigator Jun Lu holds a twisted coated wire next to a small glass tube that contains a twisted nanocarbon in the Kotov Lab at the North Campus Research Center of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The nanocarbon filament is so small that the twists cannot be seen with the naked eye, so Lu used the wire to explain the shape which creates the chiral photons. COMPASS is the Center for Complex Particle Systems which is directed by Nicholas Kotov, the Irving Langmuir Distinguished University Professor of Chemical Sciences and Engineering.
Researchers from the Kotov Lab have found that submicrometer twisted filaments made from materials like nanocarbon or metals can produce strong chiral infrared photons, especially in the wavelength range of 500 to 300 nanometers. The twisted filaments emit light that is significantly brighter, up to 100 times more bright than other similar light emitters. The special helical shape of the filaments helps in controlling the type of twisted light they emit. Additionally, coating these nanocarbons with durable, transparent ceramics results in bright and adjustable chiral emitters capable of functioning at temperatures that were previously thought to be unreachable. This advancement opens new possibilities in the field of chiral photonics and high-temperature applications.

Hold clamp and inverted bucket application
The hard-arm pneumatic power-assisted manipulator, combined with pneumatic clamping and pneumatic flipping special fixtures, realizes the clamping, lifting and dumping operations of 200-liter material barrels. By flipping the pneumatic flip lever on the operating handle, the fixture can be flipped 180 degrees to achieve complete dumping of the material. The entire system is easy to operate and runs smoothly. Smooth overturning and unique anti-misrelease function in the air to ensure maximum safety in production. It is widely used in chemical, food, biomedicine and other industries.
