Apologies for my absence! We have both of our children getting married in the next few months and things are pretty busy! I couldn't resist these pretty spring bulbs though ;)
Many thanks for all the kind comments and favs - they're very much appreciated.
For not being around or commenting on your(amazing ) photos, been an extremely busy week...father in law at weekend... sons girlfriends birthday yesterday and my middle man child’s 21st tomorrow not to mention our impending wedding in a couple of weeks! Needless to say my head is in a spin! Hence why I am still up at 130am!! Trying to calm a little lol...I think most of it is done now so all I need to do is relax and enjoy..(easier said than done lol). Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. I will try and pop in now and again. Have fun xxx
Apologies for a second post today...but this orange beauty stole my heart in the early evening sunlight.
Happy summer solstice everyone!
Apologies. My powers of control don't quite extend to getting all fifteen ponies around me to look in the same direction, but I'm working on it and I know that no matter what the weather is like this weekend I shall pay them another visit. This is a living landscape and I'm besotted!
Apologies for being a bit awol. My 4 sisters and I spent much of the past week sorting out our Mum's things; a difficult job but one we were able to do together. Mum loved her clothes, shoes and bags and we're pleased that several charities will benefit from the donations. Today we have been helping my sister do the same with her son's things. Again, it was incredibly sad, but my sister was amazing - determined that many of his lovely things will benefit others.
As always, many thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my images and I look forward to catching up with you all now.
Apologies for the poor title!
A meet up with BingleymanPhotos and Mike Tonge for an early evening walk up Lingmoor Fell. We followed the wonderful dry stone wall to lower down stopping a few times on the way. The heather was just past it's best and we had some harsh light with a cloudless sky that made conditions difficult for photography.
A lovely evening out with good company made up for the less than ideal conditions.

I don′t have the right
What else should I be?
All apologies
In the sun
In the sun, I feel as one
In the sun
In the sun
Married
Buried
I wish I was like you
Easily amused
Find my nest of salt
Everything is my fault
I'll take all the blame
Aqua sea foam shame
Sunburn freezer burn
Choking on the ashes of her enemy
In the sun
In the sun, I feel as one

Buried
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

Apologies for the poor title.
A day of celeb spotting yesterday. I took the dog for a walk around the marine lake at West Kirby earlier in the day and saw the now barrel chested former England and Liverpool footballer John Barnes walking up Telegraph Road in Heswall with a newspaper under his arm and a bag of goodies from the Shell garage.
I popped in to the butchers for a piece of sirloin after the dog walk and found myself stood next to Paul Brown who played 'Malcolm,' in the seminal late eighties/early nineties sitcom Watching. He was having the butcher coat some lamb leg steaks in minty sauce.
And finally Neil Fitzmaurice of Phoenix Nights and Peep Show fame sitting on the steps to the beach at Caldy watching the sunset.
Apologies for posting a torrent of photos this week. My weak excuse is wanting to stay inside and cool on these very warm SoCal days. So, here I am posting one from my 2021 archives while I enjoy music from the 70’s. Thanks for the music, Van Morrison.
Into the Mystic is a song written by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison and featured on his 1970 album Moondance.
Hark now, hear the sailors cry
Smell the sea and feel the sky
Let your soul and spirit fly
Into the mystic

Apologies for previously posting this as a Small Blue. Thanks to Phil Lowe - see comment below for correcting me.
Apologies for not being on here much in the last week... work and family life been busy and I've got man flu also so been heading off to bed early.
I took some time today to process a couple of shots though which I'll post through this week. The first being from a stormy day at Seacliff Beach in East Lothian. The waves where the most powerful I've seen there and made shooting quite tricky as a dull day and lots of white made exposure quite challenging!

i'm tired. and i'm angry. and i have a right to be. i'm not apologizing anymore.
Apologies for quality, as though on tripod, there was still some wind which caused some vibration , so not using fast enough shutter speed. Live learn practice !
Apologies for my recent lack of comments. I have just returned from another trip in search of Pine Marten.
A fantastic week away with no TV, internet or phone signal. I hit lucky this time with the weather (only 1 overnight shower in a week)
Apologies for all the Woodie pics but I do love photographing them !
Looked out my old Nikon 200-500mm lens and it appears its working ok which is handy
Apologies to the Mamas and the Papas for appropriating their lyrics. The missing punctuation isn't a typo; this is part of a fine stand of palms along the main street in Winters, CA, west of Sacramento.
It is beautiful. A view of the island of Salina from the neighbouring island of Lipari. Bougainvillea are in full blossom and Prickly Pear ready to be harvested. The Aeolian Islands north of Sicily are volcanic (Stromboli is still very active) and volcanic products such as Obsidian, a kind of black glass, have been exported from Lipari since Neolithic times (Obsidian was shaped into knives before metals were mined).
Apologies to Rimsky-Korsakov. When I was down at Commonwealth lake last weekend, I was practicing flight captures (it was pretty good light, so I could shoot faster than most days around here). Saw this bufflehead take off, and managed to get it in focus before it landed, but unfortunately after it'd already passed.
'Apology' was inspired by two things:
One being one of my favorite poses by Be My Mannequin? which is 'Viva La Vida.' I love the pose's sit and the fact that the hands can hold lots of objects (flowers, crowns, food, or anything you want!) to make your own picture unique!
You can find 'Viva La Vida' and may other unique poses at the main store or Marketplace of Be My Mannequin?. So go check it out and be amazed like I am!
~~~
The second inspiration came from a viral internet post that went around a while ago. According to dailybreak.com, Reddit user N7_Nate snapped a picture of a man riding a subway with a Hot n' Ready pizza and flowers who appeared nervous. I'm sure many of you remember it. There were many negative comments about that man on the subway, saying he was lame and should have gotten something better.
That picture inspired me because seriously? Who the hell do you think you are to say something negative about that man? At least he is doing SOMETHING where a lot of partners don't even have the curtesy to say "Sorry" or even if he was going with a gift for the sake of giving a gift, maybe his partner loves pizza and would adore flowers. Half the people out there wouldn't go half as far for their partners.
Don't judge a book by its cover. Who are you to judge? Sometimes its all someone can do. Sometimes its just the small gestures that make the biggest impact.
With apologies to Tennessee Williams and his play A Streetcar Named Desire for renaming this bird. The full name of this beauty needed shortening—at least in our house—and the three to five Steller's Jays that now frequent the back forty don't seem to mind.
Love the feathery underside (there’s a technical term for that area, I’m sure ;-)
Thank you, Don Delaney, for ‘…feathery under tail coverts.’ Such a good birder and virtual friend.
Bliss.
Apologies for my lack of commenting. Our son moves out this weekend and our daughter and partner move back home next weekend after giving up their flat to go travelling! So it's Mum and Dad removal services to the rescue!!
Have a good weekend everyone and thanks for all the lovely comments on my images.
One of my favourite songs ever
Apologies again for not being very active. I have a lot of assessment deadlines this month so I won't be around very much...
Hope you're having a great Sunday!
Apologies for the overload of Trevose Head Lighthouse photos but whilst I was walking around the headland I hurt me bleddy knee. At the moment I aint going know where for a few days.
Apologies for being a bit AWOL recently, busy times!
Many thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my images; they are very much appreciated :)))
HBW!
Apologies for being behind but have been away and off again so will catch up as I can. Now that the tourists are gone we will camp till the rains come.
Apologies if you have seen this scene before but it is one of my favourite places for a photograph. The sunset at Knowle locks never disappoints.
Apologies for being awol, a lovely, busy Christmas seeing lots of family and friends.
Thanks for all the lovely comments and faves on my images over the past year. They are very much appreciated.
Apologies for the enforced abscence - had all manner of computer problems, some of which affected image quality and hence a couple of posts had to be deleted. I would be interested in any feedback offered about how this looks on your screen, so feel free and be honest!
This is a shot of the low sun silhouetting one of my favourite trees at Croome. The shadows were terrific, and I hope you like them too.
I'll try to catch up with what has been going on over the next few days.
Apologies to me German speaking buds, but I just had to.
Pillar Point Harbor, just north of Half Moon Bay, California.
Apologies to those who faved the previous iteration of this image, but my friend and photography/art mentor (Howard Brodsky) was kind enough to point out that the previous version was over-saturated, hence I deleted that version and followed his suggestion to dial back the colour sauration a bit.
My laptop screen is a bit cold and lacks vibrant colour, despite having carefully calibrated it, so sometimes my images might appear a little too colourful and saturated on other screens.
Let me know if you spot one of my images suffering from over-saturation or other colour issues
Also, feel to re-fave and I will gladly comment and/or fave your image(s) in kind.
Thanks to everyone on flickr for your suggestions, help and encouragement! It means a lot and it helps me to improve.
Apologies first, I am going to the coast today so it will be late in the day probably before I can comment on your posts
Wat Pho is one of Bangkok's oldest temples. It existed before Bangkok was established as the capital by King Rama I. The temple complex houses the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand, including a massive 46 m long reclining Buddha.
The chapel and the reclining Buddha was built by Rama III in 1832. The image of the reclining Buddha represents the entry of Buddha into Nirvana and the end of all reincarnations. The posture of the image is referred to as sihasaiyas, the posture of a sleeping or reclining lion. The figure is 15 m high and 46 m long, and it is one of the largest Buddha statues in Thailand. The right arm of the Buddha supports the head with tight curls, which rests on two box-pillows richly encrusted with glass mosaics.The figure has a brick core, which was modelled and shaped with plaster, then gilded. The soles of the feet of the Buddha are 3 m high and 4.5 m long, and inlaid with mother-of-pearl. They are each divided into 108 arranged panels, displaying the auspicious symbols by which Buddha can be identified, such as flowers, dancers.
I must add this was difficult to photograph both from the POV and the various light sources
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM
I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO
WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT
Apologies for my attempt at a humorous film related title.
Not as sharp as I would have liked, my excitement at having this Barn Owl heading straight towards me and using my monopod probably contributed, in hindsight could have increased the shutter speed and ISO - hindsight is a wonderful thing.
The other thing I can blame is having spent 2 and a half hours at the dentist earlier in the day, so probably still suffering from PTSD.
Anyway - if you don't zoom in too much it doesn't look too bad! :-)
