An extract from the NASA archives of the Apollo 11 lunar surface imagery shot 50 years ago today -- with a modified 70mm Hasselblad -- an extraordinary moment in space exploration and human history! I choose a more unusual example from the catalog displaying the extreme sunlight that the astronauts saw especially when they first approached the moon! You can find the catalog at the lunar planetary Institute. This is from Magazine S. here's a link: www.lpi.usra.edu/resources/apollo/catalog/70mm/magazine/?40
While there, you can find images from the mapping metric camera, along with imagery from the other Apollo missions -- notably Apollo 8, the first mission to leave the protective atmosphere of earth and make it to the moon, and Apollo 17, The last human visit to the moon.
The Temple of Apollo in Side, Turkey, stands on the edge of the Mediterranean where the ancient city once thrived as a major port of Pamphylia. Built around 150 A.D. during the Roman era, it was dedicated to Apollo, the god of music, light, and harmony.
SK: V dňoch 11. a 12. decembra sa v Bratislave lepili prvé dva Vectrony dodané leasingovou spoločnosťou RSL skupine BUDAMAR. Rušne boli dodané vo februári 2021 avšak polep dostali až teraz, nakoľko počas ich dodania neboli návrhy polepov ešte spracované. Vectron 383.216 dostal polep na ktorom je vyobrazený bratislavský most Apollo.
EN: On December 11 and 12, the first two Vectrons delivered by the leasing company RSL to the BUDAMAR group were glued together in Bratislava. The locomotives were delivered in February 2021, but they received the sticker only now, since the sticker designs had not yet been processed during their delivery. Vectron 383.216 received a sticker on which the Bratislava Apollo bridge is depicted.

Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith. Opened as the Gaumont Palace in March 1932, having been long planned (from 1925) with initially the Davis family as promoters, but latterly Gaumont British. It was designed by Robert Cromie, and had 3,487 seats in stalls and balcony levels, plus standing room for a further 225. It is art deco in style, with panels by Newbury A. Trent. The Gaumont was equipped with a 35ft deep stage, full fly tower with 28 double purchase counterweight lines, a 64ft wide proscenium arch, and 20 dressing rooms. There is an 4 rank / 15 rank Compton organ, reinstated in 2005 after many years in storage. The Gaumont was renamed Odeon in 1962, regular films ceased in 1984, but sometimes occasionally play dates. It became the Apollo in 1992, and has been taken over by various companies over the years (Clear Channel; MAMA; HMV; Stage C) but is currently owned by CTS Eventim. As the finest surviving work by Robert Cromie, and (together with the Plaza Stockport), one of the greatest, and least altered 1930s super cinemas, the Apollo is grade 2* listed, and had a major refurbishment (Foster Wilson Architects) in the summer of 2013, uncovering and restoring many decorative features of the building. The Apollo is regularly featured on film and television, from "The Smallest Show on Earth" (1956 feature film) to "Live From The Apollo" regular TV Stand-up recording (18, and counting, series beginning 2004). Taken on a visit arranged by the Cinema Theatre Association.

This is a photograph taken from the Apollo 8 spacecraft looking back at the Saturn V third (S-IVB) stage from which the spacecraft had just separated following trans-lunar injection. Attached to the S-IVB is the Lunar Module Test Article (LTA) which simulated the mass of a Lunar Module (LM) on the Apollo 8 lunar orbit mission. The 29-feet panels of the Spacecraft LM Adapter which enclosed the LTA during launch have already been jettisoned and are out of view. Sunlight reflected from small particles shows the "firefly" phenomenon which was reported by astronaut John H. Glenn Jr. during the first Earth-orbital flight, Mercury-Atlas 6 (MA-6) of the Mercury Program.

I am back from vacation and terribly busy! This gelding is Apollo who I rode two times on a trail ride. The last day of the vacation some brave souls went out for a sunrise ride and it was glorious. My pics turned out horrible, but what do you expect riding a horse and low light, lol! We stopped for people to take pics and Apollo looked into the sunrise and I snapped this shot. I think you can see the horizon and sun in his eye.
Christy had surgery yesterday: tumor removed from femur, rod placed in upper leg, and a total knee replacement. She is in much pain. PT started already and we can't wait for her to walk again. She hasn't put weight on that leg for 5 mos. I am sure she will be glad to drive again, too. She still has two more chemo treatments and then she is done! Thank you, thank you for all your prayers!
The Apollo Theatre, created for my book NEW YORK CITY BRICK BY BRICK. The inspiration behind including this icon in my book were that many of my favorite musical acts gave key performances there and also my days playing softball in Harlem.

The Temple of Apollo , Stourhead Lake .
This circular temple was built in 1765, by the architect Henry Flitcroft, to outdo William Chamber’s earlier Temple of the Sun at Kew. It is dedicated to Apollo, the sun god. Nestled on a hilltop, the temple has delightful views over the lake
I was blessed that both my Florida & New York homes were spared by Hurricane Hermine. My Apollo Beach home's dock was shattered by the storm though the area wasn't hit hard. I only saw it on my return here. But I'm grateful to see the Almighty's Magic!
A statuette of the Greek god Apollo at the Bowes Museum. Apollo is a sun-god, and I wanted the picture to convey this.
Apollo - This is an Artistic image.
For this work i use two photos i take to the Castle of Arraiolos (Portugal) in background and to The bronze "Statue of Apollo" (1788) of the sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon.
Jean-Antoine Houdon was one of the France's greatest sculptors in the 18th century. The Statue dates to 1788, just 1 year prior to the French revolution, and is now in the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon, Portugal.

Coming from the first day of my stay in the Drôme where I saw for the first time, I am empty-handed. It's 18:30, I decided to stop the session and returns to the car. Little attention, a little disappointed, then he takes off in front of me and landed a little further opening its wings wide to enjoy the ultimate sunshine

American Kestrel male (captive bird)
'Apollo' is one of the raptors of Wild Ontario, and is an ambassador for his species. He's beautiful all on his own, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to photograph him, side-lit in the late afternoon sun, with a background of autumn leaves.
