I've been playing with digital and AI images for a week now. Just now, I decided I should just walk around the buildings where we have lived for nearly two dozen years. We sometimes ignore what is right under our noses.

This is my one Christmas ornament, a gift from my boss.

Progress on the apartment complex. The framing is being constructed on the first apartment. The streets are in and paved.

Tomorrow is Sunday and there may not be any construction going on. I may ride through the complex and get some closer photos. I have never taken a photo from the top of the site.

I have to start my ride very early these days. The heat is near 100F in the afternoon.

This is from those weeks where day and night kinda blended together

Rise above the city's industrial past in Mission Creek Senior Community, a modern oasis nestled in San Francisco's revitalized Mission Bay district. These sleek, contemporary buildings offer a stark contrast to the area's gritty waterfront roots, now transformed into a vibrant hub of innovation and culture. The striking orange accents against the neutral-toned facade create a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the thoughtfully designed balconies provide residents with a private outdoor space to enjoy the city views. The community's commitment to sustainability is evident in its energy-efficient features and lush landscaping, creating a harmonious balance between urban living and environmental responsibility. Mission Creek Senior Community is more than just a place to live; it's a vibrant community that offers a range of amenities and services tailored to the needs of its residents. Enjoy the convenience of being just steps away from world-class restaurants, trendy shops, and state-of-the-art fitness facilities. With spacious floor plans, modern amenities, and a focus on wellness and community, Mission Creek Senior Community provides the perfect blend of comfort, style, and convenience.

Located along the Dodder river as it enters the Liffey at Grand Canal Docks. The oldest block is the one closest to Bridge Street and for some reason it is most decorative and attractive. This block was designed by Herbert G. Simms and it has many of the hallmarks of his other blocks built as public housing by Dublin Corporation.

Simms designed other blocks in Dublin at Chancery Place, Henrietta Place, Townsend Street and James Street.

Herbert Simms was born in London and studied architecture at Liverpool University. He came

to Dublin in 1923 and worked initially in the private sector before joining Dublin Corporation. In 1932 he was appointed to the new post of Housing Architect, established in the office of the City Architect, Horace O’Rourke. Simms recruited temporary staff to assist in his task of addressing the chronic housing shortage of the time. Between 1932 until his untimely death in 1948 he was responsible for the design and construction of an

astonishing 17,000 new dwellings, ranging from schemes of flat blocks in the city centre (Chancery House being one of the earliest) to extensive housing schemes of two-storey

cottages in the emerging suburbs of Crumlin, Cabra and Ballyfermot. It is a credit to his design skills that the majority of these dwellings are fully occupied to this day.

Curtain Number Three

Sunday off so I was able to explore the entire construction site. Interesting.

Shot from the top side of the apartment complex, opposite the location of the image I posted yesterday.

This image shows apartments underway to the left, center and right. The wood frame building is going to be the Clubhouse if the piles of lumber around it are marked correctly.

I’m a passionate motherfucker.

Whether it comes to my photos or my music or my stupid football team or the love for my children or my thoughts about life or anything I do.

I think I’m kind of expressive too. I really believe in the things I’m into. I’m dramatic about it and I kind of love that I am.

Take for example my professional American football team the Philadelphia Eagles. I’ve been following these assholes since I was a child. They win, I’m happy. They lose? It ruins my day (sometimes week). Is this healthy? Some would argue no. I couldn’t really offer back an argument back in defense. Yet I really think a healthy passion for something is kind of good. To some extent.

What does this has to do with this photo? I have no idea. I really don’t care.

The photo at hand? Well it’s double pimpexposure man. It’s both of my signature poses combined into one! The laying facedown motionless shot versus the trying to be cool fedora tipped kind of triumphant stance. Evidently the fedora tipped guy is the winner in this duel.

I combined both into one shot! Once again in my apartment complex. You gotta love the 7 year old sleeping upstairs that doesn’t allow me to leave within eye distance of my front door. I think this is the most photographed apartment complex in the history of apartment complexes. It’s like legendary man.

The album below? One of the cutest, catchiest, and otherwise most delightful pieces of indie-pop ever put together. The video highlighted is just a slice of the pie. Get this album if you even slightly like indie-pop good listenable music. Even people who listen to the radio will like this (and that’s scary for my typical tastes).

Beware! You have now entered day 353 of my already completed but not yet posted 365-day self-portrait project. Muahaha.

I don’t read.

I feel like sort of a loser saying that. I’m not proud of it. I actually in theory would love to be sitting here reading on my bed getting ready for sleep instead of typing this blurb to you about how I don’t read. But alas here I am admitting to not doing something that is widely recognized as vital to our human existence.

I mean it’s not like I don’t read read. And by saying “read read” I mean I read words everyday. I read on the internet and I’m reading these words as I type them. I read as much as anyone else would on a typical day. I’ve even been reading the goddamn Bible here and there, just snippets just for the hell of it. But to get my ass to sit down and read a novel is like getting a dog to not run when you throw a tennis ball across an open field.

I actually got through four years of college without barely reading a book. I always throw that stat out when this whole reading topic comes up. I guess it’s kind of like proving to the person listening that I am not a complete utter idiot. Although I know some real fucking idiots these days with college degrees. Now if I can prove that they DO read, I think I’d be on to something!

I can say this: I love books. I own a ton of them. I am fascinated with old bookstores. The thought of being in one kind of gives me a half a boner. I could hang out in a used bookstore for days going over all the books and just smelling the aroma of the old paper bound to the aging covers.

But you see, browsing books isn’t my problem, it’s the sitting down and concentrating on reading one in its entirety part that fucks me. I tend to start thinking about 10 other things and before I know it, I just read a page that I didn’t read. Not to mention the mere thought of sitting down to read a book doesn’t exactly enter on my top-5 priority list of things I want to do on a random given evening.

To end on a pro-reading note, I do read to Chloe almost every night. Reading to her has been central to our nightly routine since I was wiping shit out of her ass. We just finished “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn”. And fuck man, what a great book! It’s popular for a reason, and that reason is because it’s amazing.

The shot at hand? I walked around my street trying to find a random location for my daily shot. I took my gear and set it up in the lobby of a random apartment complex down the street. Some asshole eventually kicked my friend and I out, just to be a dick. I got my shot regardless.

It’s got some abstract quality to it, even though it’s only an apartment complex in something we call a “Vinex-wijk” in the Netherlands (it’s named after a policy briefing note of our former Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, which pointed out large outer city areas for massive new housing development). Future ghettos probably, but please don’t tell the people living there ;-)
