Black Orpheus (Portuguese: Orfeu Negro) is a 1959 film made in Brazil by French director Marcel Camus. It is based on the play Orfeu da Conceição by Vinicius de Moraes, which is an adaptation of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice, setting it in the modern context of a favela in Rio de Janeiro during the Carnaval. The film was an international co-production between production companies in Brazil, France and Italy.

Cemiterio Sao Joao Batista in the Botafogo neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I've ever seen. (I actually prefer it to Recoleta because it's similar in the amount of sculptures and art, but this is much bigger, and feels much more open than Recoleta.)
For me, coming here also had the added bonus of seeing my favorite Brazilian musician: Antonio Carlos Jobim. (If you ever are lucky enough to visit here, when walking through the front gate, just walk straight...about 100-150 meters ahead on the left, you'll find his grave.)
Speaking of famous graves, about another 50 meters past Tom Jobim, you'll bump into Carmen Miranda, the first Latin woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (She had a rather complex life, though was always pigeonholed into the same style role...which contributed to her having a complicated life back home in Rio.)
Anyway, if you have an interest in cemeteries, this is a pretty one, and a great way to spend a few hours on a nice, sunny day in Rio de Janeiro.

Os Afro-sambas is a 1966 studio album (that should not be confused with the album of the same name and different artwork recorded live) by Baden Powell and Vinícius de Moraes. The live album is ranked number 29 on Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Brazilian Albums.
Baden Powell de Aquino (Brazilian Portuguese: [ˈbadẽ ˈpawew]; 6 August 1937 – 26 September 2000), known professionally as Baden Powell, was a Brazilian guitarist. He combined classical techniques with popular harmony and swing. He performed in many styles, including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz and MPB.
Marcus Vinícius da Cruz e Mello Moraes (IPA: [viˈnisjuʃ dʒi moˈɾajʃ] (19 October 1913 – 9 July 1980), better known as Vinícius de Moraes (Portuguese pronunciation: [viˈnisjuʒ dʒi moˈɾajʃ]) and nicknamed O Poetinha ('The little poet'), was a Brazilian poet, diplomat, lyricist, essayist, musician, singer, and playwright. With his frequent and diverse musical partners, including #AntônioCarlosJobim, his lyrics and compositions were instrumental in the birth and introduction to the world of bossa nova music.
