Paving mosaic outside Garota de Ipanema. The bar is thus named to commemorate the Antônio Carlos Jobim song The Girl From Ipanema, a bossa nova standard that was a global hit in the 1960s and won a Grammy for song of the year in 1965.
The girl about whom Jobim wrote was real, and now owns a chain of bikini and swimwear shops in Brazil by the same name.

I have no choice. I have to!
This was a collage I had been asked to do for ages.
Philip wants to have them in a big picture for his bedroom.
Assembling things like this can be so time consuming. I know I could've done better but he has to be happy with this.
This is not even ten percent of his entire collection, but he wanted a selection of favourite covers rather than a definitive favourite albums chart.
working on an arrangement of Jobim's bossa nova classic « The Girl From Ipanema. » recorded in july 2020.

Cemiterio Sao Joao Batista in the Botafogo neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is one of the most beautiful cemeteries I've ever seen. (I actually prefer it to Recoleta because it's similar in the amount of sculptures and art, but this is much bigger, and feels much more open than Recoleta.)
For me, coming here also had the added bonus of seeing my favorite Brazilian musician: Antonio Carlos Jobim. (If you ever are lucky enough to visit here, when walking through the front gate, just walk straight...about 100-150 meters ahead on the left, you'll find his grave.)
Speaking of famous graves, about another 50 meters past Tom Jobim, you'll bump into Carmen Miranda, the first Latin woman to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (She had a rather complex life, though was always pigeonholed into the same style role...which contributed to her having a complicated life back home in Rio.)
Anyway, if you have an interest in cemeteries, this is a pretty one, and a great way to spend a few hours on a nice, sunny day in Rio de Janeiro.
