Animación digital. 2017

Pictures of and from Nan Desu Kan 2019!

This is the old animation building here on the studio lot. Not sure why there was a work light blasting the animation sign, I just know that I love the shadows it cast! This was taken on my Polaroid Land Camera, so what appears to be the ghost of Walt flying out of the building is actually light leakage from when I was forced to open the back to pull a crumpled tab loose.

Animación digital. 2018

Traditional 2d frame by frame animation

This animation shows this little hummer's feeding display. Unlike the other hummers in the yard, it approaches the feeder from the side, about 4 inches to the side and 4 inches above the feeding tube.

Then it hovers for a sip, and repeats the maneuver. It ends by backing off about 4 inches, hovering for a second, then speeding off.

The bird repeats this process when it feeds in the afternoon during twilight. In the morning, it goes directly to the feeder tube, hovers and sips, then jets off.

Pentax istDS at F22, with 70-220mm Soligor manual lens at about 200mm. ISO 200 and 180th second shutter. Camera is about 4 ft. from the feeder.

oh yeah, the famous "every thursday nite animation team meeting" with just some of my pretty kids.

First I'd like to say, this animation has taught me so much about animation. I've learnt how important it is to plan out the animation with key poses because it makes it easier to follow the 12 principles, for example I planned out my key actions at the start, so I had decide on what anticipation was optimal before the action, after I researched and animated my anticipation I then followed to apply secondary action. I achieved this by offsetting the top half from the bottom half to achieve a desired elastic motion.

The rig used was from creativecrash.com because I felt the rig I created wasn't good enough to get the animation I set out for.

The timing is accurate, it gives a good sense of weight in the animation. One of the strongest parts of the animation are towards the end, when its lifting the object, this works well because of how the weight of the object reflects in the characters movement as it tries to balance from left to right.

The weaker points of the animation are at the start because the rig is limited to expressing an emotion to show confusion which would help the viewer to understand whats going on.

The creative aspects of the animation are displayed through the yes and eyebrows. The eyes and eyebrows managed to display the characters frustrated emotions when lifting and suprised/ curious emotions when investigating the shapes.

Although lighting doesn't represent the ability of an animator, it polishes the animation and makes it look more professional.

Overall this animation appears to be successful because it uses the 12 priniciples and body language to bring a cube to life.

Whiteboard animation is a process where a creative story and storyboard with pictures is drawn on a whiteboard by artists who record themselves in the process of their artwork. www.ldrkmedia.com
