1983 saw the publication of a very special Teen Titans book. It made its debut, not on newsstands, but as part of a kit distributed to schools around the country. The kit was co-produced by DC Comics, Inc., and the Keebler Company for use in President Reagan's drug awareness campaign. Its goal was to inform schoolchildren (in particular, fourth graders) about the dangers of drug abuse.

Originally, the head of the White House drug program approached DC because he had wanted to use one of their better-known characters such as Superman, Batman, or Wonder Woman. But those characters were tied up in other projects at the time. Instead, DC recommended The New Teen Titans, the company's best-selling title. The program heads were shown Wolfman's two-issue story dealing with runaway children and were impressed. Best of all, they realized The Titans would appeal most strongly to the age group they wished to reach.

One problem cropped up with the book as Wolfman and Titans artist George Pérez began work on it: Robin, the leader of The Teen Titans, couldn't be used. "This book was being sponsored by Keebler, and Robin was already licensed by Nabisco. So they came up with a new character, The Protector. they already had the art done, so Dave Manak did all the corrections to turn Robin into The Protector. He looks pretty much as I envisioned him, except where his costume is purple, they had originally wanted black."

Hanna Barbera produced a 60-second anti-drug spot in the early eighties using these six characters. It was the only animated appearance of the New Teen Titans.

Marv Wolfman, from New Teen Titans #41 letter's page: "Sometime this season you'll be seeing The Titans all over the TV tube. Tying in with our special anti-drug comic, Hanna-Barbera will be unleashing a one-minute Titans anti-drug cartoon spot which should be shown on all three networks, most likely during Saturday morning. There will also be 30-second and 20-second version of the public service announcement. they received a call from their design department, asking for a whole slew of George's designs, so the Titans should look just about perfect."

The commercial also included the Protector, who appeared in the anti-drug comic book.

According the Mureika and Stojkovic the universe could have started with less dimensions and as the universe expanded it allowed more dimensions to come into existence (www.world-science.net/othernews/110316_dimensions.htm). It is important to understand that adding dimensions does not increase the amount of information contained but does influence how this information is able to express itself.

The spherical model of the universe is usually used to represent 4 dimensional spacetime as a 2D plane and explains how spacetime expanded and will eventually shrink back. I have used the model to represent each component dimension separately, which may not be accurate, but I wanted to show that dimensions were added as the universe expanded.

In a one-dimensional universe, time and space were united. Time would have some of the properties of space and vice versa. For example, time would have been able to go backwards as well as forward.

In a two-dimensional universe, time and space became separated. Time could now only travel forward and our spatial dimensions would have been expressed as a single dimension like a piece of string or spaghetti, but not necessarily straight or flat.

In a three-dimensional universe, space would be like the surface of a 3D object, but again not necessarily straight or flat (for example as shown in the above image).

A four-dimensional universe is the one we believe we live in. Space has three dimensions which in our everyday lives we understand as height, width and depth. There is no hierarchy to these dimensions and in our perfectly flat universe; they all extend to an unknown distance.

However, it has been proposed that as our universe continues to expand that it will acquire a fourth spatial dimension. What this will look like and how it will affect our universe is not known. There has been the suggestion that this extra dimension is what is causing the expansion of the universe to accelerate.

“Lost Youth”

Final to me doesn’t just refer or mean the Final Major Project of my Photography course, new chapters are opening for me whilst others are closing. 2013 marks the end of my more than somewhat eventful teenage years and childhood. You could say this project has been a “leap of faith” as I have had to accept my life so far and the experiences I lost due to my health complaints in recent years, which is why I decided that my Final Major Project should contain a highly personal element, which tells a story only I can tell. I decided to use self-portraiture as a medium to illustrate the tale of my health issues in a series of interactive images- something which until recently I haven’t entirely felt comfortable facing or discussing about.

“Aberration” – the act of departing from the right, ‘normal’ or usual course. Lapse from a sound mental state.

This image contains many complex personal memories and feelings, which I found quite hard to successfully convey. Aberration on the surface clearly conveys my appendectomy in 2007 including my hallucinations caused my morphine which resulted in me seeing animals. As the result of the operation and miscommunication I suffered on-going complications, which is symbolised by my pointing finger. However my pointing finger also signifies my struggle to be believed and my ongoing problems were not “all in my head” and I was actually in ‘chronic pain’.

Here are the three voyager class Seekers from Transformers Animated in their jet modes: Sunstorm, Starscream, and Skywarp.

These pair of Wasps from Transformers Animated were my latest set of customs I've created. Both are pictured in car mode.

Each of them has an individually sculpted head that unique from the other. They also have their hands carved a bit to have claws.

The one of the left is the one I gave to a friend, the other is the version I kept for my own collection.

Details about the project can be found on my blog: www.floatingcat.com/2014/06/09/transformers-animated-wasp/
