Anger!! That was my inspiration for this ring. Handcrafted from sterling and fine silver, with a red coral stone set in a handmade bezel. This is my second piece that materialized from my 4 hour commute home one evening. Needless to say I was not too amused to be sitting in traffic for almost 4 hours! See the Meltdown Necklace for the first piece in my "Commute From Hell" collection.

Getting Medieval
Long ago in days I'm told
Were ruled by Lords of greed
Maidens fared with gold they dared
To bare their wombs that bleed
Kings and queens and guillotines
Taking lives denied
Starch and parchment laid the laws
When bishops took the ride
Only to deceive
Oh I know I lived this life before
Somehow know now truths I must be sure
Tossin, turnin' nightmares burnin'
Dreams of swords in hand
Sailin' ships the Viking spits
The blood of father's land
Only to deceive
Living times of knights and mares
Raising swords for maidens fair
Sneer at death
Fear only loss of pride
Living other centuries
Deja vu or what you please
Follows true to all who do or die

Well it was close to hollywood !
For the first week of my concentration I decided to try a rather angsty look. The photo I was inspired by featured a female model in a purple wig, a lace collar, a pastel wardrobe and light background, wanting to veer in a more complex direction I chose a black turtle neck and dark metallic makeup to create a more intense look. The models wig was originally a vibrant purple but through editing with the color mixer on Lightroom changed the purple to a darker blue. I an increased contrast and exposure while turning down shadows and highlights to cause the dark parts of the image to blend into the backdrops darkness, which I think creates a more mysterious look.
This image relates to my concentration because I used low-key lighting to create a fashion portrait in which I edited by muting bright colors.
Jail would mean more angst, you advised.
So I handed you a black, felt tip pen, and you asked me for my foot.
"Don't let the smallness of others trip you up," you wrote on the bottom.
Then I walked around all day on those words.
So I'm gonna do the thing with the box. but I probably won't poop on it.
this is the third year I've knocked on this homeowner's door to ask permission to photograph their halloween decorations. this year, I brought prints of this shot and this one to give them. I think they were a little surprised by that and quite appreciative. I spoke with walter a little bit more about his decorating, storage of items, new parts of the display this year, etc. I suggested I get his e-mail address and I would forward some of this year's images to him. he and his wife were very nice about it and all I had to do was be careful not to trip on any of the myriad of lighting wires. this is one of the reasons I look forward to halloween each year, to see this display.
(ps - I think this is my favorite so far this year)
One fluid gesture, like stepping back in time.
Trapped in amber, petrified.
And still not satisfied
Airs and social graces, elocution so divine.
I'll stick to my needle, and my favourite waste of time,
both spineless and sublime.
I drew this back in November
and I've been so wrapped up in script work for my various comic projects that I havn't really drawn much of anything since then.
(Just character design sheets and the occasional random scribble)
I really need to draw more TFs though..
Shockwave would be especially fun
