As soon as I arrived at the event, children of all ages ran up to hug me and to inquire about my "husband" Mr. Claus! It was an amazing experience. I think I've found my true calling!

Operation Pets Alive (operationpetsalive.org) had a booth at the "International Winter on the Waterway" (iWoW) event, held, November 17, 2012. We had a booth filled with hand-made pet-related crafts (including wonderful handsewn aprons in many patterns), along with a "Polar Express" theme, complete with a perfectly-attired "Mrs. Claus". The booth was a huge success.

How about some wildlife photography in the urban area? Saw these soft shell turtles at an aquarium of a local Asian food market. Not sure if they were wild caught or farm raised. In any case, I tried to take a close up shot of it by pressing my phone against the glass of the aquarium.

Before this, the phone I was using was from my graduation.After almost 6 years of usage, one day while coming back from office, the phone fell from the pocket,crashed on the road,and split in half.

So it was time to look for a new phone.

And finally set my eyes on this.

Took a bit of planning and some (mediocre) editing but I think I'm pleased with the result.

History of the site:

After 40 years in business the Neptune Diner located in Astoria, Queens, NYC served its last meal on Sunday, July 29. 2024. The owners claimed they were not given a chance to renew their lease, because the property will soon be turned into a residential building.

Since 1983, The Katsihtis brothers have owned the building on Astoria Boulevard but not the land, which was sold in 2018 for over $10 million.

The brothers also had a 35-year lease which expired in 2019. But since then, they were not able to come to a long-term agreement with the landlord.

But that's what Long Island City/Astoria needs is another apartment building. It's already so overbuilt, it's ridiculous. Yet they keep tearing them down and building new ones, many of which are luxury rentals. The neighborhood is losing its character to steel and glass.
