The heavy brass art deco doors of the Pac-Med building where Amazon.com's headquartes are located.
I first walked through these doors just over 4 years ago to meet Charlie Bell for "coffee" to talk about job prospects. I remember I was late and I illegally drove in the car pool lane to get there on time. I'm gonna miss this building when we move.
'tis the season for friends and family ( and occasionally very generous "internet friends" ) to begin asking us what odin would like for christmas and this year, rather than tell everyone the same improvised, ad-hoc list of the same things we thought we'd be a bit more organized and put together odin's 2005 christmas wishlist on amazon.
obviously, anyone can feel free to get something not on the list, but we thought it might be a nice way for odin's friends and family who are scattered all over the world to make more informed purchasing decision. but that only works if everyone cooperates and actually buys the items from amazon, so please try to refrain from buying items on the list from a local merchant because then nobody else will know he's received a gift from his wishlist :-)
nobody should feel obligated to buy odin any gifts. but if the past few weeks are any indication it seems that there are more than one or two people who are interested and this list is for them.
of course, anyone can still feel free to send him a postcard or any other gift not on the Official List using the current address found on the postcards from budapest post.
Flowering reeds break up the jungle's shoreline all along the river banks. Note the Amazon's brown water full of flooding sediment.
Despite spending thousands of dollars on Amazon US, I am unable to leave a review for an item on Amazon Australia as I have to spend $50 for that privilege...
Nice going Amazon! NOT.
Amazon Australia is a MASSIVE failure.

The "Amazones de la Confrérie des Gardians" perform a carousel in the Roman Arena of Arles, France. This is to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Mireille, the famous poem of Frederic Mistral.
Frédéric Mistral (September 8, 1830?March 25, 1914) was a French poet who led the 19th century revival of Occitan (Provençal) language and literature. He was a key figure in the literary félibrige movement. He shared the Nobel Prize in literature in 1904 for his contributions in literature and philology. Mireille is also an opera in five acts by Charles Gounod to a French libretto by Michel Carré after Frédéric Mistral's poem Mireio. Gounod was charmed by the originality of the work, the story being much less contrived than many of those on the operatic stage at the time. During the course of composition Gounod spent much time in Provence (12 March to the end of May 1863), visiting the sites of the action in the poem/opera, and met Mistral on several occasions at his home in Maillane. Gounod stayed at the Hôtel de la Ville Vert in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, and was treated to a banquet by the townspeople on May 26. Presenting class differences in a rural setting was not usual at the time, and as Huebner comments "some early reviewers had difficulty accepting that a 'mere' country girl could sing a heroic aria such as "En marche". It has been argued that "what matters in this extended lyric poem is not the story but the rich tapestry or Provençal traditions, beliefs and customs"
Just ordered my third Rebel XSi from Amazon. I returned the first as defective and the second was stolen, so this will bring the total I own up to one.
Think of it as a lens accessory: it allows me to use my EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 and EF-S 60mm f/2.8 again. And that in turn will hopefully soothe the itch to get a TS-E 90mm f/2.8 and TS-E 17mm f/4L (pictured).
