I bought this original car from a guy in Southampton, I kept it for a few years before selling to Duncan Ross who lived in Scotland.
A year or two later I saw the car advertised again as Duncan was moving to the South of France...we stayed in contact and I bought it and drove from Scotland back to London. I kept it until I moved to Switzerland a few years later and sold the car to a guy that wanted to do some classic racing I can't remember his name but I remember dealing with his daughter who's name was Paula Marland.
I wish I still had that car!
I tried my luck at the O Caritas Car/Moped/Scooter Shooting Technique today. Using the nifty fifty I took eight auto focus photos at f1.8 of this blue Amazon, which I then rather unsuccessfully tried to stitch together. Restitched with only four shots, and that turned out OK, although I had to fix the licence plate. I probably need to practice on this technique.

My hands are tired and eternally crimped in the rod-grip position. My stomach and chest are riddled with small bruises in perfect proportion to the fly rod fighting butt. My luggage contains shredded fly lines, reels that received more of a workout than they ever dreamed of while sitting on the shelves, rods that were doubled over and contorted in shapes they were not designed to ever see, and a dozen flies that are torn and beaten up by razor sharp teeth. These are the after effects of a trip to Agua Boa Amazon Lodge, deep within the Amazon jungle.
The Rio Agua Boa is, by Amazonian standards, a small feeder river that empties into the much larger Rio Branco, which in turn joins the River Negro. The Rio Negro joins the Rio Solimoes at Manaus to form The Amazon proper.
Two girls from Gamitana Cocha, a small village in the Peruvian Amazon, walk the two-mile trail to their sister village: Vista Bueno. Both of these girls attended a free health clinic provided by Project Amazonas earlier that day. My 1968 Volvo Amazon Estate has the later B20 engine with overdrive, a lightened crank, fuelie head with Volvo race part valves (possibly sodium filled), steel timing gears, performance cam and followers, down draught Weber on a Pierce inlet manifold, IPD front anti-roll bar and a performance exhaust system and bilsteins shocks all round.
The car was originally Dark Green with a tan interior.
The previous owner owned the car for 17 years…it was his work horse, before that it was previously owned by Lt. Commander Robert Sloane (N.A.T.O.) stationed at Ruislip, the vehicle was purchased by him in California and last registered in Maryland. He brought the car with him when he was posted to the UK.
