New Zealand horse - Kaimanawa horses are a population of feral horses in New Zealand that are descended from domestic horses released in the 19th and 20th centuries. They are known for their hardiness and quiet temperament. The New Zealand government strictly controls the population to protect the habitat in which they live, which includes several endangered species of plants. The varying heritage gives the breed a wide range of heights, body patterns and colours. They are usually well-muscled, sure-footed and tough.

For centuries the Residenzschloss - the royal palace in Dresden - served as the seat of government for the Saxon Rulers of the Wettin family. Today it is home to a number of museums, including one of Dresden's most famous attractions, the Green Vault, a large treasure chamber. Like all landmarks in Dresden, the Royal Palace was destroyed in 1945. For more than forty years the building stood in ruins, with only the Georgenbau rebuilt between 1962 and 1969. Reconstruction of the whole Residenzschloss started in 1985 with the intention to recreate it as a cultural and museum complex. It was mostly completed in 2006, just in time for the city's 800 year anniversary. However, construction on the castle is expected to continue until 2013. The Royal Palace is home to a number of interesting museums. The most famous is the Grünes Gewölbe (Green Vault) - one of Europe's most magnificent treasure chambers with some 3,000 treasures.

Volubilis (Berber languages: Walili, Arabic: وليلي‎) is a partly excavated Berber city in Morocco situated near the city of Meknes, and commonly considered as the ancient capital of the kingdom of Mauretania. The archaeological vestiges of this site bear witness to several civilizations. All the phases of its ten centuries of occupation, from prehistory to the Islamic period are represented. The site has produced a substantial amount of artistic material, including mosaics, marble and bronze statuary, and hundreds of inscriptions. This documentation and that which remains to be discovered, is representative of a creative spirit of the human beings who lived there over the ages. The limit of the site is represented by the Roman rampart constructed in 168-169 AD. The features of the site reveal two topographic forms: a relatively flat sloping area in the North-Eastern part, the monumental sector and a part of the sector of the triumphal arch, where the Romans employed an urban hypodamian system, and a rougher hilly area covering the South and Western parts where a terraced plan was adopted. The vestiges bear testimony to diverse periods, from Mauritanian times when it was part of an independent kingdom, to the Roman period when it was a metropolis of the Roman province of Mauritania Tingitana, a period called the « dark ages » with towards the end a Christian era, and finally an Islamic period characterised by the founding of the dynasty of the Idrissids.

Numa Falls (紐瑪瀑布) is a waterfall of the Vermilion River located in Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada. Numa Falls is a gorgeous waterfall in the midst of the Canadian Rockies. The waterfall itself is a cascade that flows as a part of the Vermilion River, which is in the thick of Kootenay National Park (庫特尼國家公園). Numa Falls is an ever-popular stop for adventurers traveling this region because it is easily found and accessed. The Banff-Windermere Highway 93, a main artery for the region, rolls adjacent to the Kootenay River, which later becomes the Vermilion. A quick hike from the parking lot, the falls, while not extremely large, present a prime opportunity for a few photos as the river flows through a picturesque forested canyon. Those seeking a longer adventure can cross the river near the falls and continue on a hiking trail that navigates into the park.

Distance lends enhancement to the view.

Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is near the Icefields Parkway. It was named for Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area. Peyto Lake should be top of the list of places you have to visit in the Rockies. This incredible lake has to be seen to be believed and some people rate it even more highly than the stunning Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. The dazzling glacial blue water shimmers in the day time and is surrounded by huge alpine mountains.

The lake is formed in a valley of the Waputik Range, between Caldron Peak, Peyto Peak and Mount Jimmy Simpson, at an elevation of 1,860 m (6,100 ft).

During the summer, significant amounts of glacial rock flour flow into the lake from a nearby glacier, and these suspended rock particles are what give the lake a unique bright, turquoise colour. The viewpoints for Peyto Lake and Bow Lake are incredible as unlike Moraine Louise or Lake Louise, you are incredibly high up. I took this photo just from the wooden platform of the lookout viewpoint. This pano photo was mergerd with a few overlapping vertical images.

With luxuriant pine forest and crystal-clear river with Ningxia eight scenic reputation, is a good place for summer and fishing. When we arrived the location, the lighting for landscape wasn't favourable for landscape image. I didn't stop me. I still took this image although it was backlit and hazy. Blue Rocks is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in the Lunenburg Municipal District in Lunenburg County. A small village about a six minute drive from the Town of Lunenburg. The little community of Blue Rocks is advertised as “Lunenburg’s answer to Peggy’s Cove”. Still a working fishing village with blue slate rocks on the edge of the ocean making it an artisan and photographers muse. The fish shack sitting in the water is the most photographed building in the county. (44°21′23.42″N 64°15′4.71″W)

I captured this image along the sea shore of this little village. This picturesque little fishing shed is a popular subject of artists and photographers alike. Its naturally photogenic likeness is showcased in many nearby Lunenburg Art Galleries. It lures endless folks out of their cars to nearby shores trying to capture its essence. It is also said to be the most photographed fishing shed in the county.

The Neptune Fountain in Berlin was built in 1891 and was designed by Reinhold Begas. The Roman god Neptune is in the center. The four women around him represent the four main rivers of Prussia at the time the fountain was constructed: the Elbe (with the allegorical figure holding fruits and ears of corn), Rhine (fishnet and grapes), Vistula (wooden blocks, symbols of forestry), and Oder (goats and animal skins). The Vistula is now entirely in Poland, while the Oder forms the border between Germany and Poland.

The Hassan Tower is a minaret of an unfinished mosque in Rabat, Morocco. Construction was begun in 1195 and this tower was intended to be the largest minaret in the world along with the mosque to be the largest. In 1199, sultan Yacoub al-Mansour died and construction of the mosque stopped. The tower reached 140 ft, about half of its intended height of 260 ft. The rest of the mosque was also left incomplete, leaving the start of a few walls and 200 columns.

Adjacent to the unfinished mosque is the completed Mausoleum of Mohammed V. He was Sultan of Morocco from 1927-1953, exiled from 1953-1955, and then recognized as Sultan again upon his return. In February 1956 he successfully negotiated with France for the independence of Morocco, and in 1957 took the title of King. He died in February of 1961. The mausoleum contains the tombs of the Moroccan King and his two sons, King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah. The bottom photo is a night shot of the exterior of the Mausoleum building.
