The building look strange, your eyes are not playing tricks on you, because it is not a single building, Temple of Heaven 天坛 is the third building behind.

Medium-sized goose with two strikingly different color morphs. White morph generally more common. Adults have black wingtips, pink bill and legs, and often show yellowish staining on the head. Juveniles have dull brownish bill and legs and variable grayish smudging on body and wings. Dark morph adults are dark slaty-gray with a white face; juveniles are entirely dark. Typically found in flocks, sometimes numbering into the thousands, but individuals may be found with other geese species. Occurs in fields, marshes, and lakes during migration and winter; breeds on Arctic tundra. Compare with Ross’s Goose, which is like a cuter miniature version of Snow Goose. Pay attention to the bill: Snow Goose has a longer bill with a more curved border where it meets the face, and a more pronounced dark “grin patch” (but beware, Ross’s can show a small grin patch too!). The snow geese are gathering in the tens of thousands to make their trek up north. However, for some strange reason, this one was all alone on the other side of the city. It seems to swim okay but I am wondering about his ability to fly, as the wingtips seemed mis-aligned when on land. I'll have to check in shortly to see if it is gone.
UPDATE: The goose was gone today (04/23) so has either joined his friends or found a better place on the creek. Perhaps he just wasn't quite ready to go last week.

C'est parce qu'on s'imagine tous les pas qu'on devra faire qu'on se décourage, alors qu'il s'agit de les aligner un à un.
Beautiful, warming colors on a January morning, that I noticed in a garden I passed while walking up in the hills of Berkeley, California recently.
A white ibis and an immature little blue heron strike similar poses as they search for food.

A stick insect hoping I would not eat it. It looked to me as if it was in some yoga position
(it would not be the first time I anthropomorphize a subject )
No really...!
"The Maryhill Stonehenge is a replica of England's Stonehenge located in Maryhill, Washington. It was commissioned in the early twentieth century by businessman Samuel Hill and dedicated on July 4, 1918, as a memorial to those who had died in World War I. The memorial was completed in 1929. It is constructed of concrete.
The altar stone is placed to be aligned with sunrise on the summer solstice. Hill, a Quaker, informed that the original Stonehenge had been used as a sacrificial site, therefore constructed the replica as a reminder that humanity is still being sacrificed to the god of war."

Quite the fascinating place. I'll post more from here soon.
Have a wonderful week!

Echinopsis is a large genus of cacti native to South America, sometimes known as hedgehog cactus, sea-urchin cactus or Easter lily cactus. One small species, E. chamaecereus, is known as the peanut cactus. The 128 species range from large and treelike types to small globose cacti. The name derives from echinos hedgehog or sea urchin, and opsis appearance, a reference to these plants' dense coverings of spines.
They are remarkable for the great size, length of tube, and beauty of their flowers, which, borne upon generally small and dumpy stems, appear much larger and more attractive than would be expected.
Since this particular species' individual flowers normally bloom only two days a year, and this is one of those days, and this is my wife's birthday, it seems that all the stars were aligned.
