The Alien Throne hoodoo formation in the Valley of Dreams, New Mexico. This was taken at the end of a very long and cold (maybe around 3 or 4 degrees Celsius) night. Night photography can be challenging and pretty exhausting, but it sure is magical to be out there under those dark skies.

Is this a space ship landed in ancient times, is it an alien egg or the dragon egg of legend? Who knows.
May be our origin lays within this shell, because we too are born of eggs floating in an ocean.
This shot was taken at a glorious sunrise at Moeraki, New Zealand.
Maori tales state that the boulders littering the beach of Koekohe are storage baskets and sweet potatoes fallen off the canoes of the mighty gods, who formed The Land Of The Big White Cloud.

Dieses Bild wurde kurz vor Sonnenaufgang am Strand der Moeraki Boulders auf der Südinsel Neuseelands aufgenommen.
Die Maori in Neuseeland erzählen sich, dass die runden Felsenkugeln am Strand von Koekohe in der Nähe von Moeraki Vorratskörbe und Süßkartoffeln wären, die aus dem Kanu der Götter gefallen sind, die Neuseeland geformt haben.

Ingredientes:
-Nikon D600 + Nikor 105mm macro 1X
-Helicon Remote para control automático de la pila de foco mediante el anillo de enfoque (por medio de USB)
-Helicon Soft para apilamiento de foco (38 shots, Method A, R=8, S=4)
-Helicon lo puedes bajar a prueba durante 1 mes gratis, o una licencia para un año por 50€, controla casi todas las Nikon y Canon mediante USB. Existen otros proveedores de soft para stacking (apilamiento), p. ej. Zerene, ControlMyNikon o Canon, Combine Z, etc
-Opcional: impresora 3D (Up Plus 2) para la fabricación de focos, soportes, mesa de trabajo, etc. Puedes utilizar el sencillo 123D Design (free soft) para diseñar las piezas.
Receta:
-Montamos el bodegón con sujeto y fondo
-Lo iluminamos con 4 o 5 micro-focos de leds. Los focos se pueden diseñar e imprimir utilizando una impresora 3D y después montar los leds (alta luminosidad y 5300K), la alimentación es de 12vdc para grupos de 3 o 4 leds. La ventaja frente al uso de flash, es que se pueden dirigir los focos y componer la iluminación antes del disparo, además del volumen que se consigue jugando con la iluminación.
-Disparamos las fotografías utilizando, p. ej., Helicon Remote: Helicon controla el enfoque con el movimiento del anillo de enfoque antes de disparar cada foto, todo el proceso de toma de fotos es automático, se pueden ver videos en youtube
-Para 1X se necesitan de 20 a 100 fotos, según valor de f, focal utilizada y profundidad de campo necesaria, lo calcula el soft automáticamente. Se suele utilizar el punto dulce de la lente (normalmente en el entorno de f5.6) para optimizar los resultados
-Apilamos el stack de n fotografías utilizando Helicon Soft
-Utilizamos Lightroom o similar para eliminar “halos” y “artefactos”
-Una vez se tiene práctica, todo el proceso puede durar 30 min

How do you can do it :
Ingredients:
-Nikon D600 + 105mm macro nikor 1X
-Helicon Remote control for automatic focus stack using the camera focus ring (using USB)
-Helicon Soft Focus Stacking (56 shots, Method B, R = 8, S = 4)
-Helicon: You can download a free trial for 1 month, or a license for a year for € 50, it controls almost many Nikon and Canon via USB. There are other suppliers of soft for stacking, p. ex. Zerene, ControlMyNikon or Canon, Combine Z, etc.
-optional: 3D (Up Plus 2) printer to manufacture light bulbs, brackets, desk, etc. You can use the friendly 123D Design (free soft) for pieces designing.
Recipe:
-Ilumination with 4 or 5 micro-LED bulbs. The lighters can be designed and printed using a 3D printer and then mount the LED´s (high brightness and 5300K), the power is 12VDC for groups of 3 or 4 LEDs. The advantage over use of flash, is that you can positioning the lights and lighting make up before shooting, in addition to the volume to be achieved by playing with these lighting.
-Shot photographs using, p. eg Helicon Remote. Helicon controls the approach to the movement of the focus ring before the photo shot, the whole process of taking pictures is automatic, you can watch videos on youtube
-For 1X do you needed 20-100 photos, depending on value of f, focal and deep of field needed, automatically calculated by the soft. Often used the sweet spot of the lens (usually in the vicinity of f5.6) to optimize results
-Now we stack of shots using Helicon Soft
-We can use Lightroom or the like to remove "halos" and "artifacts"
-Once you have practice, the whole process can take 30 min

Captured this with three RAW shots at -2..0..+2 EV. Digital blending in Photoshop CS6. I increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Topaz DeNoise to reduce noise. Topaz Clarity for additional boost in color and contrast.

This mushroom appeared among our strawberry plants. The forest is near so the spawn might get there easily. Still, it looked quite inappropriate, like an alien. The mushroom is probably Morchella esculenta.
Alien art
My picture above is showing that an alien bird is picking up a leaf.
Development of some aliens from an animal stage to a developed stage ( at tree of life) might take very long time or the expected development might not happen at all if some components don't come together.
The environment, the world they are in, might not be very rich for the development of the aliens, and/or biological development might head in a very different direction. Their "tree of life" might not have proper branches for a progressive development. The tree would be weak, like a tree in a desert.
For a chemical reaction, we have to have specific atoms. We need substances to create other substances. For reactions to happen, we have to have some conditions present at the place where the reaction should happen.
Already developed aliens would be the lucky ones, passing all hurdles. When we consider the existence of billions of stars, planets and a lot of different places within planets in our universe, the probability would be very hight to be lucky for some aliens.
Another issue is that we might not see any alien at all because of the distance between stars and galaxies. Non of us ( we and aliens ) might reach the very high development to create very high technology to fly that far ( the distance between galaxies getting more in each day, expanding universe ) before our universe collapse, before the black holes pull the galaxies, before the stars of the planets explode, before the artificial intelligence takes over ( AI doesn’t need to be conscious and alive, and doesn’t need to have feelings and emotions. it can survive on its own if it is programmed properly ), etc.
Al might be the biggest threat to humans and aliens, it could wipe out them very easily. The creation of very destructive Al is possible when we consider how much hatred there are in our world between nations, races and between the people with different religions.
One of the most mysterious behaviors in the nature is moulting. It comes when reptiles "shed their skin". The snake's skin is often left in one piece after the moulting process.

This week is going to be moth week for me. I set up a moth trap in my backyard to try to get a varied amount of species. I love moths as I think most look like cute little aliens.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D
Starting to get back into night shooting. I found these bales of hay in a field not far from home. The lights in the background are those of Raymond Terrace, New South Wales. Australia.
Like this lamppost is alien between the trees I feel often alien between other humans.

I was actually returning to sculpting minifigs for a bit and decided I needed a scale reference and ended up making this version of Ripley instead. The rubber bands hold the half bubble dome in place quite securely and provide a nice thin line for the helmet at the same time.
Now to try and get some of these parts in pink, yellow and blue for Dallas, Kane and Lambert.
Are they just waiting for the perfect time to make themselves known to humans? Only time will tell...
