During my freshman year of college, I learned how to solve the Rubik's Cube. My good friend Alexis would play with his Rubik's Cube during our engineering physics class in a very large lecture hall where other students would watch him and eventually follow suit. He taught me all the algorithms, and a couple of weeks later I was able to solve it in 30 seconds. I'm unable to do it that fast anymore. In fact, I still struggle to memorize the last algorithm. I should sit down with it one of these days and practice again.

This project is part of the CyberArts 2020 exhibition at the OK.
This multisensory project calls into question the concept of mass production by envisioning a potential future personalized perfumery. The Algorithmic Perfumery evaluates completed customer questionnaires and uses the data to generate a unique scent. The respondents’ feedback on this personal perfume is then in turn fed back into the program to refine the compositions developed by the algorithm. By interacting with the machine, users are given the power to play an active role in the creative process: the machine learns from their personal physical experiences and subjective (olfactory) sensations.

Algorithmes SĂ©rigraphiques is a week long creative workshop using Processing to generate images and silk screen to print the results.

Using an alphabet composed of letterfroms created from exactly two rectangles on a background square, I created an inverted zigurrat of words.

Test image for the workshop. Three 'A''s generated in Processing with varying contour widths. From this we printed with different colours on a white and black T-Shirt to get an idea of the results. One of the main limitations of silkscreen printing is of course colour but also line width and therefore overall definition of the drawing.

breakthrough! I figured out the conversion error that was vexing me. still don't have all the controls set up, and the algorithm itself isn't totally finalized. but: I'm getting something in the neighborhood of what I wanted, so I'm very happy.
these three images were run through in about 10 minutes. so the speed's looking up as well.
