So it's our exams week. Damn, and we're having math tomorrow. :| I swear to god I didn't understand a thing. Loljk. But this is going to be hard.
I'm planning to do a project 365 thing. But I just don't feel like it yet because I don't like my hair that much at this time. lol. I'll start next year at the beginning of the year. :)

How to Think about Parallel Programming---Not!
Anyone remember the old days, when for good performance you had to worry carefully about which register should hold which variable, and when? Sometimes we still do this to get extremely high performance from critical inner loops, especially when using specialized processing hardware such as GPUs.
On the other hand, we have been able to write ever more complex and ever more capable software systems only by sacrificing such micromanagement and using general-purpose tools and abstractions for coding the bulk of our software. Along the way, we have discovered that code generated by automated tools often does a better job than hand-crafted code.
And we learn to code in such a way that the behavior of our code does not depend critically on the detailed optimization decisions that we have delegated to the tools. If we want to let a compiler's register allocator have the freedom to put variables in registers, we stop writing code takes the address of a variable, as in the C expression & myvar. If we want to allow an automatic storage allocator to do its job, we must write code that works properly independently of where an object or array happens to have been allocated, and perhaps independently of whether the object or array happens to be automatically relocated in the middle of a computation. Once we do this, we don't have to think about memory placement. Good programming language design can get us from the place where we must remember "don't use this difficult feature" to the place where it's not even on the radar screen because the language provides other, better ways to think and get things done. (Example: Java doesn't even have a way to take the address of a variable.)
Likewise, the best way to write code for multiple processors is not to have to think about multiple processors. We need to get to the point where we worry about the assignment of tasks to processors just about as much as we worry about the assignment of data to memory---which is to say, only for truly critical portions of the code---and for the most part leave such decisions to automated tools.
This will require further adjustments in our programming habits---adjustments that, we argue, in the end will make programs easier to understand and maintain as well as easier to run on parallel processors. The key is not to focus on a particular technology but on useful invariants. Here, as in the past, good programming language design can help to encourage good programming habits.

Ten high school algebra students from the Boise State University TRIO Upward Bound program visit Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho to see math related careers and applications at the 124th Fighter Wing. The students, in the final week of their 6-week in-residence course on the campus of Boise State University, visit POL (petroleum, oils and lubricants) also known as “fuels,” nondestructive inspection, metals and the civil engineering squadron while on base. The Upward Bound program prepares and motivates high school students that are low income, first generation, and college bound, for success in education beyond high school. In this episode of Algebra Applications, three real-world explorations of linear functions are developed:
- Sports. The relationship between slope and grade in cycling. Go on a tour of Italy through the mountains of Tuscany and apply students' understanding of slope.
- Oil Exploration. The potential for oil exploration in the controversial Alaska National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). A linear regression of oil consumption data over the past 25 years reveals an interesting pattern. How could new oil fields like ANWR help in breaking our dependence on foreign oil?
- Medicine. Exercise needs to become a consistent part of everyone's lifestyle. In particular, aerobic exercises, which vigorously exerts the heart, is an important form of exercise. The maximum heart rate from aerobic exercise is a linear function dependent on age. Students are asked to develop a data table based on the function.
Peridot needs to have her math thinking on, because Jasper has an Algebra problem on the screen, in particular, an equation problem. The trailway that Peridot was jogging comes to a tool booth, where Jasper is the "cashier". Instead of paying money to pass by where normally this is the modern routine, they have to correctly answer an Algebra problem in the screen. Violating this will be something like the violations at a real toll booth, but in this case, they would have to do at least 45 Algebra problems. Easy Huh? Well, we'll see if she can answer "a+10=93, a-10=73, a=?" correctly.

Ugh, Algebra is a pain in the neck. I'm really worried about finals!!! School has been taking up so much of my time, especially because its coming to a close.
