Brown Hare, despite the end of the breeding season these hares are still showing regularly, I sit for hours watching their antics sometimes I think they're watching me as well.

Indian wild dogs, also known as dholes (Cuon alpinus) are highly social and intelligent predators found in forests across South and Southeast Asia. They are known for their distinctive reddish-brown fur, erect ears, and bushy tails.

These animals play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance but are classified as endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.

Alert and ready to pounce.

Greater Yellowlegs, Tringa melanoleuca. A lifer for me. Taken at the wetland in Seabourne Creek Nature Park, on my first Bird Hike with the Texas Master Naturalists Coastal Prairie Chapter. The group leader identified an enormous number of birds, and I got a few nice photos. The hikes are now on hiatus until "next year"; ie, the fall migration season. Dog years last 7, Bird years go a lot faster!

Rufous Whistler (Pachycephala rufiventris) male

Diving back into the archives today, I may have to go back even further before our lock-down ends.

Mammoth amounts of noise reduction as the iso was so high due to the fading light. Hence not the greatest detail by any standards. But to get to spend some time in the company of this gorgeous girl was a rare treat ☺️❤️

16 images stitched.

I just love to watch and photograph the grebe family of birds. This western grebe is on alert for its mate. They often swim together, independently diving for food and when they emerge on the surface again, they call out, looking for each other. It's just so sweet. Of course, those red eyes alone, against the black head and white throat is enough to capture my attention. LOL. Now that summer is approaching, can't wait to get out and spend more time with them again.

Thanks for stopping by to view.

The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is an atypical member of the cat family that is unique in its speed, while lacking climbing abilities. Therefore it is placed in its own genus, Acinonyx.

It is the fastest land animal, reaching speeds between 112 and 120 km/h in short bursts covering distances up to 460 m, and has the ability to accelerate from 0 to 110 km/h in three seconds, faster than most supercars.

The adult cheetah weighs from 40 to 65 kg. Its total body length is from 115 to 150 cm, while the tail can measure up to 85 cm in length. Males tend to be slightly larger than females and have slightly bigger heads. The cheetah's chest is deep and its waist is narrow. The coarse, short fur of the cheetah is tan with round black spots measuring from 2 to 3 cm across, affording it some camouflage while hunting. There are no spots on its white underside, but the tail has spots, which merge to form four to six dark rings at the end. The cheetah has a small head with high-set eyes.

There are several geographically isolated populations of cheetah, all of which are found in Africa or Southwestern Asia. The cheetah likes to live in an open biotope, such as semi-desert, prairie, and thick brush, though it can be found in a variety of habitats.

One from a visit to Newport Lakes on this day three years ago.

All the pictures in this series are available in the Red Alert album.

This Coastal Brown Bear was cooling down on a very warm day by lying in some shallow water, when something caught its attention. Not for long however. He settled back down right after this shot was taken.

Today starts a non-themed series on my photo stream. The only thing the next few posts will have in common is that I will pick them randomly based on what moves me each morning.

A lone Brown Thrasher briefly made an appearance on the lawn. They're pretty elusive, so the fact that this one tolerated us for so long was a nice surprise
