For the last week or so, I've noticed large numbers of crane flies milling/flying around on grassy areas in the Blue Mountains and Oberon. Today, after good rains yesterday, they are busy mating.

Breeding aggregations of Oval chromis were observed during the months of April & October between 2004-2009 at the same depth and location of a coral reef along the Kona Coast of the Big Island. Males performed courtship behavior, which included dramatic color changes to attract the females. Once mating occurred, females deposited their eggs in areas prepared by the males. Her job completed, the males took over care, vigorously defending them against any intruders. Three to four days later the "fry" could be observed schooling a specific, shallow area of the reef near large Porites lobata formations where they could hide in it's crevices from predators.

25 February 2020, Gachie, Kenya - Youth farmers beneficiaries visit a vegetable farm in Gachie, Kenya on February 25, 2020.

FAO has organised a farm tour to connect the youth to local farms and producers. Each participating farm will provide guided tours, demonstrations, and hands-on experience. The planned visit is part of the program implementation capacity development program meant to transfer technology, knowledge and skills to the youth. The Youth will also have experiential learning in the field to learn on Market Access and Value Chain Development to enable them understand how the world of producing, buying and selling goods and services work. They will be expected to meet with value chain actors across each value chain i.e Input Provision, Production, Aggregation, Processors, Retailers, Finance Providers, Distribution and Consumers.
