This old boat is here for as long as i remember! although i have a few other shots in my stream of this boat i thought i would try HDR also there was very little decent light today :)

Candid street portrait taken in Glasgow, Scotland. A fascinating close-up candid look at the process that comes to us all in time. Where skin thins and becomes flaky and where hair sprouts from everywhere. In fact I don't think I have ever seen hair growing on the front of the nose before. I loved this man's expression as he looked up the street and as you know, I love photographically studying human life and behaviour. Enjoy full screen by pressing 'L' or clicking the image.
Looking at my Flickr stream, I can see I have posted very little this year (comparatively).
2019 seems to have been a rather lupus-filled year (struggling with the illness and struggling to keep my little editing business going through yet another major flare). Now, having just turned 60, with my family somewhat in disarray, and winter light over Pembs that is flat and not at all inviting, I'm looking forward to a change of perspective.
So here's to 2020 - and a better year for photography, swimming, getting back to all the people who've emailed me and all the things I still want to achieve.
The Boeing Collection
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.
This shot was taken from the perimeter fence near the threshold of runway 28L on the south-east side of the airport. It shows a very clean THY Boeing 727-2F2 TC-JBR lining up for a 28L take-off with flight TK980. In the queue behind is one of Iran Air's three Boeing 747SPs which flew with the airline for around 40 years, and sidelined awaiting its slot is a BMA Douglas DC-9. All long-gone aircraft types at LHR now sadly. THY bought seven A310s in 1985-86 to replace their ageing Boeing 727s and 707s [see photo below in comments section].
THY (Turk Hava Yollari) used Boeing 727s on their scheduled service TK979/980 from Istanbul, but they were sometimes replaced by Douglas DC-9s, Boeing 707s or even McDonnell-Douglas DC-10s on occasion.
The airline operated eight Boeing 727-200s between 1974 and 2000, the last in service being TC-JCD. Sadly, two of the eight were written off, one of which was the aircraft in my photo TC-JBR. TC-JBH was the other, which crashed into Mt Karatepe, Turkey in 1976 before I ever got to see it.
TC-JBR 'Afyon' c/n 21603 - Boeing 727-2F2 was delivered new to THY in Dec 1978, but after just three years in service, the aircraft was sadly lost with many lives lost in a crash at EsenboÄŸa International, Ankara, Turkey on 16th Jan 1983.

"Mosca" (a Fly) is a Muscovy Duck (Pato Mudo or mute duck - Cairina moschat), petted like a dog by everybody who passes by Rua da Madalena nowadays most likely known as "Rua do Pato" (Duck's Street) in Faro. He poses at his owner's (a shoemaker) door just like a "Club Bouncer".

Ageing Merseyrail electric unit 507001 pauses at Brunswick on a Hunts Cross to Southport service, 22nd June 2023
The Sun appears to have been active for 4.6 billion years and has enough fuel to go on for another five billion years or so. At the end of its life, the Sun will start to fuse helium into heavier elements and begin to swell up, ultimately growing so large that it will swallow the Earth. After a billion years as a red giant, it will suddenly collapse into a white dwarf -- the final end product of a star like ours. It may take a trillion years to cool off completely.
I recently watched a film called 'Knowing' with Nicolas Cage which really does share the similar storyline . Don't worry you still got plenty of time to watch it.
This old man has a shop in Lahore. I went to his shop to get my watch repaired but couldn't resist to get a portrait of him.
Arachtober 29th. A female Leiobunum rotundum, minus 2 legs. Looks like she has a few stories to tell.
Down by the canal, Colin is trying out a cunning plan to replicate ‘sea ageing’ with the latest batch of illicitly produced ‘brandy’. The main problem is that they have a whole tank wagon of the stuff to ‘age’, the aforementioned wagon lurking behind the engine masquerading as a petrochemical tank. More wooden casks will be needed, and certainly more boats, or even a ship to carry out the task. As usual all the usual suspects gather around to advise, but will no doubt soon come to the conclusion that they might as well pop a few casks on the veranda of a rough riding old brake van, the effect will be much the same. But with sulphurous sooty air creating its own unique character instead of the more traditional salty air.

Mature age:
A poignant and expressive allegory of human destiny, this group depicts an ageing man torn from his youth by an old woman adorned with a veil evoking death. The work may also recall the painful relationship between Rodin, Rose Beuret (his partner) and Camille Claudel (his pupil and teacher). Abandoning her first pyramidal composition, Camille Claudel preferred this elongated construction which better suggests separation.
This shot was taken on my way from Delhi to Gwalior.

A very old River Red Gum at Mt Ridley reserve in Craigieburn, victoria. Development all around this area is gradually leading to the loss of many of the stands of these old old trees - it breaks my heart. But at least a few of them will survive in reserves like this. EXPLORE May 24, 2009 #209
