I've forgotten over the years that I had these photos. Taken with my first digital camera roughly around November 2001 (possibly over Thanksgiving weekend).

Infinity Mirrored Room—Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity

2009

Wood, mirror, plastic, acrylic, LEDs, and aluminum

Collection of the artist

"In Infinity Mirrored Room—Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity, golden lanterns flicker, creating a shimmering pattern of light that contrasts with the seemingly endless void of the mirrored black space. For Kusama, obliteration is a reflection on the experience of death and the potential of the afterlife. The imagery in this work recalls the Japanese tradition of toro nagashi, a ceremony in which paper lanterns known as chochin float down a river to guide ancestral spirits back to their resting places on the final night of the summer obon festivals. The ceremony often commemorates the victims of the atomic bombs. Mesmerizing and intimate, Kusama’s poetic installation underscores the impermanence of life and the certitude of death."

these r some pictures taken by my sis.. scary eh.. n knowing the fact that my dad, my mom and 3 of my sis were there at that very moment made it even scarier for me.. alhamdullilah nothing happen to them..

I will post some more of my old family photos for those who asked but I couldn't let the Manchester riots go past without documenting it. I went into town before work today, to have a look at what those yobs did to my city and to take some shots. I feel, more than I ever have done in my life, that I'm living through real history. The riots of 2011 are going to be talked about for years to come I'm sure.

This is one of the worst affected buildings, a shop called Miss Selfridge. They have burnt it all out and smashed every window. It makes me so angry! Luckily the streets have been calm for the last two nights though.

While walking from the Steinway / Broadway section of Astoria to the Ditmars section, I encountered little damage until I arrived in the Ditmars neighborhood, a small section of North/West Astoria. Here I found multiple blocks completely shut down because of roadwide obstructions, almost always because of massive trees. These trees often toppled powerlines, and I saw at least 5 crushed cars, 2 of which were under the same tree.

Last week we had a huge storm, and when I resumed my usual running route this week, I found this magnificent fallen tree (its twin was lying on the other side of the road, like two dead sentries). Silverfox is a shaman so I took him there to say farewell.

The pictures were taken for the photography contest maybe-innocent and her friends held on tumblr/facebook. My theme was “rain”.
