Golden light at sunset in Long Island City.
Once upon a time, the Long Island Rail Road would use these gantries in westernmost Queens to roll freight cars on and off barges.
I previously shot them in a state of advanced decay in 1986-1987, when the ramps were collapsed into the East River and the surrounding area was a wasteland.
Now they are restored and you can live beside them in a small luxury apartment for $4,000 to $6,000 a month!
Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches. This simple painting is based on a favourite photo of mine which I took while vacationing in beautiful Nova Scotia. There are so many opportunities for great photos and hopefully subsequent paintings in this delightful area.

So, this is a floating restaurant and bar in Sigtuna. It looks menacing, right? As if taken right out of a horror movie. But trust me, this horror is perfectly real.
Each 5 years it takes place: Sail Amsterdam. All kinds of boats from all over the world show up in the docks of Amsterdam and can be visited. But just as eyecatching is the huge fleet of smaller private boats, yachts and about anything else that floats. They all set course for our capital. It was a gorgeous sight and the atmosphere was just as marvelous.
Taken by Ms. Kimiris, but the desaturation slider was alllll me. I know, a lot of talent, try to keep it together.
Whirlwind trip to Minnesota yesterday to see a good friend and had the privilege of shooting with Kim once more, and she gets absolutely all the credit for all of it, really.
Check out the finished product. I think it came out brilliantly. It's on the Explore Front Page as well :)

This piece of wood was moving around as the waves broke over it. I had to find the moment when the water from the previous wave was pulling back, leaving the wood still for a short while. Shot at around 1 sec exposure time.
keeping head above water...but barely.
