From Wikipedia:
"Chanctonbury Ring is a prehistoric hill fort atop Chanctonbury Hill on the South Downs, on the border of the civil parishes of Washington and Wiston in the English county of West Sussex. A ridgeway, now part of the South Downs Way, runs along the hill. It forms part of an ensemble of associated historical features created over a span of more than 2,000 years, including round barrows dating from the Bronze Age to the Saxon periods and dykes dating from the Iron Age and Roman periods.
Consisting of a roughly circular low earthen rampart surrounded by a ditch, Chanctonbury Ring is thought to date to the late Bronze Age or early Iron Age. The purpose of the structure is unknown but it could have filled a variety of roles, including a defensive position, a cattle enclosure or even a religious shrine. After a few centuries of usage, it was abandoned for about five hundred years until it was reoccupied during the Roman period. Two Romano-British temples were built in the hill fort's interior, one of which may have been dedicated to a boar cult.
After its final abandonment around the late fourth century AD, the hill fort remained unoccupied save for grazing cattle until a mid-18th-century landowner planted a ring of beech trees around its perimeter to beautify the site. They became a famous local landmark until largely being destroyed in the Great Storm of 1987. Periodic replanting on a number of occasions to replace old or destroyed trees has afforded archaeologists the opportunity to carry out a series of excavations which have revealed much about the history of the site."

This chap was hiking the South Downs Way, a 100 mile, long-distance, off-road National Trail which runs the entire length of the South Downs National Park and offers some of the most stunning scenery in the country.
A thunderstorm passing over the North Downs last night. Was hoping to catch some lightning but I wasn't quick enough :-)
Vor Frelsers Kirke (Church of Our Saviour), Christianshavn, Copenhagen. A baroque, 17th-century place of worship with a carillon & steps around the outside of the spire.
About as much fun as you can have in a place of worship, as you climb up through the wooden tower and emerge onto this increasingly narrow spiral staircase which terminates in a stomach-churningly cramped perch where the railings do not feel high enough to protect you from toppling over.. Well worth the money to go up!

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
First shot out of the bag on my return to street photography in Glasgow after 3 years away with severe PTSD and a terrifying period of homelessness. Proving to myself that I still have what it takes - albeit with a hill of confidence to climb.
I had done a little street shooting in Ayr prior to this, and will share some of those in good time, but being back in the big city with camera in hand was a magical feeling.
During my time without my computer I captured 969 photos onto my camera card. It may take some time to edit them all.
Thank you all for your incredible support and care. You have kept me strong through this extremely difficult time and your warm welcome back to Flickr has brought me to tears. My deepest thanks to you.
Take care my Flickr friends and family. It is wonderful to return!
► █░▓ WALKING TO SUNDAY SERVICE on the day of holy Roman pope Silvester (January 2nd according to the old Julian calendar) the mountains seemed to be basking in silver glow. I roughly calculated that the Moon will be well above the ridge as the service closes, but it went faster than that. At 10:25 there was just a minute left to record this moonset above the saddle between Bobotov Kuk (2522 m) and Bezimeni vrh (2487 m). This is the highest ridge on this mountain.
Panasonic GM1, Lumix G Vario 35-100mm f/4-5.6 set at 35mm and f/7.1, circular polarizing filter. ISO 125, 1/200 seconds. Underexposed for ⅔ of stop. Auto WB. I cropped the lower half of the capture with the tombstones and the town. Upon request I can publish the whole frame.
Raw file (used here) provided broader latency and better color, but the sooc is still sharper. It puzzles me. It seems that I don't know how to sharpen properly when developing in Affinity Photo (1.10.4)... It can't be that the small camera's jpeg algorithm runs "cleverer" than this mighty editing software.
I'll be grateful for a tip.

tl;dr - tell me what inspires you, okay?
I've recently had several conversations with photographers about inspiration and the lack of it, especially now with all the fascism and nonsense going on.
And I'm wondering if I can even help apart from being a sounding board.
I think a lot anxiety over inspiration is that we expect inspiration to just be there when we want it. By definition, that's just not how it works. I think we're pressured to produce and share far more than we should be. And because of that, we're not okay with taking breaks.
It gets so bad that if we lack inspiration for longer than we want, we start thinking things like "I should just quit photography" (whatever that actually means).
Also, so much of the inspirational advice is either worthless and commodified or it's about other art forms (writing, painting, etc). Photography is different. Unless you are working in a studio attached to your house, photography is one part inspiration and another part opportunity/luck/privilege (and a bunch of other parts of other stuff).
I've been inspired (heh) to write more about this, so if you've gotten this far, comment a bit on how you are inspired, photographically speaking.
