First day with it, here with Leica-R Summicron 35 mm. Slight PP with Affinity from RAW.
In the vicinity of the castle, we find various chapels and churches. The one depicted in this photograph is the Chapel of the Calvary, and its construction dates from the 19th century. The door is decorated with the instrumentos of the Passion of Christ.

And some reflected too. So pretty! Love the fact that it was interactive as well. If six hands were held on six of the metal rounds surrounding each of the bottom globes the colour would change and spread upwards making beautiful colourful patterns. Brilliant ... in more way than one!!
"This interactive light and sound display replicates the neutrons in our brain as they fire and misfire, changing colour with touch. While listening to the sound track featuring stories told by kiwi families and start conversations about Dementia and Alzheimers in our country." (Info from the sign about the installation Affinity).
More info in the comments :) Happy Sunday everyone ... or Saturday as it might be as well!

From Wikipedia:
"Chanctonbury Ring is a prehistoric hill fort atop Chanctonbury Hill on the South Downs, on the border of the civil parishes of Washington and Wiston in the English county of West Sussex. A ridgeway, now part of the South Downs Way, runs along the hill. It forms part of an ensemble of associated historical features created over a span of more than 2,000 years, including round barrows dating from the Bronze Age to the Saxon periods and dykes dating from the Iron Age and Roman periods.
Consisting of a roughly circular low earthen rampart surrounded by a ditch, Chanctonbury Ring is thought to date to the late Bronze Age or early Iron Age. The purpose of the structure is unknown but it could have filled a variety of roles, including a defensive position, a cattle enclosure or even a religious shrine. After a few centuries of usage, it was abandoned for about five hundred years until it was reoccupied during the Roman period. Two Romano-British temples were built in the hill fort's interior, one of which may have been dedicated to a boar cult.
After its final abandonment around the late fourth century AD, the hill fort remained unoccupied save for grazing cattle until a mid-18th-century landowner planted a ring of beech trees around its perimeter to beautify the site. They became a famous local landmark until largely being destroyed in the Great Storm of 1987. Periodic replanting on a number of occasions to replace old or destroyed trees has afforded archaeologists the opportunity to carry out a series of excavations which have revealed much about the history of the site."

This chap was hiking the South Downs Way, a 100 mile, long-distance, off-road National Trail which runs the entire length of the South Downs National Park and offers some of the most stunning scenery in the country.
A thunderstorm passing over the North Downs last night. Was hoping to catch some lightning but I wasn't quick enough :-)
Vor Frelsers Kirke (Church of Our Saviour), Christianshavn, Copenhagen. A baroque, 17th-century place of worship with a carillon & steps around the outside of the spire.
About as much fun as you can have in a place of worship, as you climb up through the wooden tower and emerge onto this increasingly narrow spiral staircase which terminates in a stomach-churningly cramped perch where the railings do not feel high enough to protect you from toppling over.. Well worth the money to go up!

Photographed from Illgill Head. I'm looking forward to doing this one as apparently:
"Yewbarrow is an excellent vantage point for the high fells in this part of the Lake District. Its unique location makes it the only place to enjoy uninterrupted views of the Scafells, Great Gable, Kirk Fell and Pillar."
Pillar is behind it, Great Gable and Kirk Fell are off to the right. Wast Water is below.

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
First shot out of the bag on my return to street photography in Glasgow after 3 years away with severe PTSD and a terrifying period of homelessness. Proving to myself that I still have what it takes - albeit with a hill of confidence to climb.
I had done a little street shooting in Ayr prior to this, and will share some of those in good time, but being back in the big city with camera in hand was a magical feeling.
During my time without my computer I captured 969 photos onto my camera card. It may take some time to edit them all.
Thank you all for your incredible support and care. You have kept me strong through this extremely difficult time and your warm welcome back to Flickr has brought me to tears. My deepest thanks to you.
Take care my Flickr friends and family. It is wonderful to return!
A weird angle used to capture a weird angle.. the odd angle of the east wall (the far wall in this photo) is apparently because it follows the line of a passageway here prior to 1678. The weird angle chosen by the photographer is because this church is also a very busy cafe and was full of customers. I was lucky to get this shot nearly devoid of them. Taken during a brief stop here during an OpenCity organised walking tour of the churches of Christopher Wren.
"St Mary Aldermary (or St Mary Elder Mary) is an Anglican church located on Bow Lane at the junction with Watling Street, in the City of London within the United Kingdom.[1][2]
Of medieval origin, rebuilding began in 1510 and was not finished until 1632. Severely damaged just 33 years later during the Great Fire of London in 1666, it was rebuilt once more by the office of Sir Christopher Wren. Unlike most of Wren's City churches, St Mary Aldermary was reconstructed in the Gothic Revival style. In 1952 its role was changed from a parish church to that of a guild church, intended to serve commuters and non-resident workers within the City of London. The main church space acts a public cafe during weekday business hours, with religious and meditative sessions held during mornings and evenings."
