The Adventurers are back! The original team this time accompanied by Johnny’s friend Mike are back in Egypt for the search of the Staff of Anubis!

This figure line-up is a redux of the original Adventurers line from 1998 + Mike (Dino Island) and Anubis (Pharaoh’s Quest). All of these were mostly designed in 2019-2020 so I’m happy to finally having been able to put them together, and now also to reveal them. Considering this theme is my all-time favourite original LEGO theme, I just had to make modernized versions of them, and I’m super pleased with how they look.

I’m hoping to feature these figures in at least another 3-4 builds the next few years. Thanks to all of those who have inspired me to get back into the rhythm of things with LEGO and also inspired me to build from this great theme. Stay tuned for the MOC reveal tomorrow!

This is my entry to the 2022 Summer Joust's Gradients category!

Tried a lot of new things with this build. Sticking with one color gradient per category guidelines, along with hiding all visible stud pieces on the moc! It was the first time using snot techniques for the base layer of the moc, and it was a bit of a learning curve but had a lot of fun creating it. I think it showcases the wooden floor-esk feel I was going for pretty well! Finding prop pieces in the right color was a fun challenge as well!

All in all, very satisfied with how it all turned out!

Here are the famous adventurer Johnny Thunder and his companions the journalist Pippin Reed and the historian Dr. Kilroy in classical jungle attire. Ready for another adventure, on the hunt for another ancient treasure.

Just a word why this is another picture without a story.

I caught a cold, which in itself isn't remarkable, but in conjunction with dull, grey weather it just kills any mood to go out and take pictures. My head feels like stuffed with cotton wool, can't think straight and my voice is like that of Lee Marvin...

Introducing Postcards from Johnny T, a set of six postcards showcasing the adventures of the renowned 1930s archaeologist and adventurer, Johnny Thunder.

The collection includes postcards from each of the locations Thunder visited on his travels, including the pyramids of Egypt, the dense jungles of Amazonia, the prehistoric landscapes of Dino Island, the ancient palaces of India, the towering peaks of the Himalaya, and the magnificent cities of China.

This MOC is a collaboration with Vanthica (vanthica.carrd.co), a friend of mine who designed the poststamps and prepared renders. Check out their other works!

Adventurers Car:

Much like the Duchess, this old pickup truck has evolved throughout the years. And recently I've updated it further to look a bit more accurate to a 1910s - 1920s style truck.

The model was heavily inspired by the 2995: Adventurers car set, so I thought I'd make it into a revamp of the original set.

So, I got the Jungle Explorer figure yesterday, but hey, we all know who that really is.

A perilous desert expedition calls for a capable vehicle.

Of all the incredible vehicles that the Adventurers theme gave us, I feel that one of the most overlooked is the truck from 5988. The box art suggests that it might belong to Baron von Barron, but I like to think of it as the larger companion to the Scorpion Tracker, providing some much-needed cargo space.

This is a revamp I’ve wanted to do for quite some time, and I’m very proud of how this came out. My version keeps a few iconic parts, such as the two-seater cab, the classic front grille, and the same rugged wheels, perfect for navigating the harsh desert landscape. There is still plenty of cargo space in the back for hauling crates, artefacts, or your fellow Adventurers if they don’t mind a slightly cramped ride.

Design-wise I wanted to make the truck a little more accurate to the 1920s, but I still wanted to maintain a certain level of late 90s Lego charm, so I tried to limit my usage of ultra-modern parts. Ultimately I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Almost 15 years have passed since the Adventurers last saw adventure...

Time has taken its toll and the World has changed.

It is time for Johny Thunder to get

the gang back together!

From left to right:

- Gabarro (lost an eye to the loa loa filariasis worm since we last saw him)

- Pippin "Storm" Reed (still as feisty as ever! Her and Johny had a bit of a thing and still do every now and then)

- Johny Thunder (shaved his moustache off as felt it made him look even older than 15 years ago, plus it made him look like a hipster which Pippin disliked)

- Prof Articus Kilroy (finally toughened up a bit and although still lectures, he prefers working in the field. The fresh air has also gotten rid of his stutter)

- Daisy Kilroy (turns out Prof A Kilroy fathered a daughter many years ago. Daisy comes along with her French Bulldog Philippe. and her husband, Stanford Cunningham)

- Stanford Cunningham (Daisys husband and son-in-law to Prof Kilroy. A gentle soul, 10 years older than Daisy, quite bald and quite wealthy. Often finances the expeditions)

- Baxter Cane (the young son that Harry ended up with after a wild night in Beirut. Raised by Harry with help from Johny, Pippin and Prof, he is as book smart as he is street smart)

- Harry Cane (any tougher and he would rust. Good father, good friend and an even better pilot)

Adventurer's car:

I don't always get the opportunity to breathe life into some of the digital builds I make on mecabricks. Mainly due to how expensive it can be to order on bricklink. But when I get a chance I like to take it.

Most of the parts I already had for this. But some dark blue elements I needed to order.

I made a few tweaks and adjustments. The old radiator/grille from the original adventurers sets sadly doesn't come in pearl gold. But I made a brick built variant instead. Along with changing the running boards and adding front mudguards. The seat is also a different design due to the 1x1 rounded brick pieces not currently available in brown.

This design is not based on a specific type of biplane, just an aircraft inspired by various photos of real-life biplanes, and the biplanes from the official LEGO Adventurers subthemes. This was originally built in January 2021 and has undergone many design iterations up until now. From the beginning I wanted to go with tan as the color of the body, but I had to choose sand green for the wings as that was the only fitting color I had enough curved slopes of, but I think it fits very well. The rear of the body is dark bley and that was a change made relatively recently.

For its final year, the Adventurer lost its convertible but gained a four-door hardtop and sedan.

Adventurers: Antarctic Team

Playing around with the original Arctic concept. I've changed the location however to the Antarctic because my concept is very much inspired by at the mountains of madness.

"The Antarctic holds many secrets in it's cold desert landscape. But when an book is discovered detailing the remains of an ancient civilization lost in the ice and snow. The adventurers are ready for a new expedition!

After discovering Marco Polo's golden dragon, life for Johnny and co has been rather slow. But now they are ready for the next adventure. But all is not as it seems in the Antarctica, the landscape shifts, the wildlife is... Strange. And the ancient civilization is beyond human comprehension..."

L to Right

Walton: an animal companion to the team, a small Scottish terrier dog.

Harry Cane: Not much has changed with his overall design, given him a scarf piece

Dr Kilroy: changed the face I've been using for him. The HP Earnie Prang head looks more fitting for the Doctor. The only merged piece is the pith helmet with goggles made from binoculars.

Johnny Thunder: Same design as the version I showed a few days ago. Again, the only merged pieces are for his hat with goggles.

Pippin Reed: I based her outfit loosely on Padme's snow outfit from the 2003 clone wars cartoon, just a bit more dieselpunkish.

Jing Lee: Not many people know this, but Jing Lee actually joined the adventurers team after orient expedition. I wanted to include her because I think she deserved more adventures. Also wanted to give her quite an ornate outfit design too.

Have a lovely day, everyone...
