“A cat has absolute emotional honesty: human beings, for one reason or another, may hide their feelings, but a cat does not.”
― Ernest Hemingway

Thank you for your visit and comments!.
Every week I volunteer at a local shelter taking animal photos. Our "models" are wonderful. Sometimes they are beautiful, too, like this puppy Colby with one green eye and one blue eye. She was adopted immediately! If you want a great companion, check out your local shelter.
No, the yellow-jacket wasp has not been adopted by the bees, and has not decided to switch colonies. It is simply seeking a little protein at the expense of the honey bees. I saw a few wasps at the hives, but didn't see any successful predation.

When I begun to process this exposure bracketing, I thought that I knew what I wanted to attain. I was perfectly wrong. Indeed, these RAW files kept a few secret bits of beauty which I was not aware of when I selected them for processing – and they changed the course of the journey I had foreordained.
I was in a gloomy mood, for both personal and general concerns, and the RAWs looked rather duller than the average – taken: they appeared to accurately mirror the state of my soul. At worst, I would have wasted some hours of pointless procesing work before deciding to look for something better. Nobody would have known. However things were to contradict my expectations. I got some good news (a rarity in those tough days) about the health conditions of my brother and my “adopted brother-in-law” (i.e. my brother’s brother-in-law); on the other hand, Darktable – that wonderful software – gifted me with a few unanticipated treasures. My thoughts were growing more and more positive and the processing of this bracketing were proceeding accordingly: a hidden beauty was unfolding before me, my own persisting unawareness of it notwithstanding. At last I found myself with a picture that had apparently self-processed itself*, while I was busy exploring uncharted thoughts that kept emerging along the way
* Admittedly a bizarre phenomenon, which Maurits Cornelius Escher would have loved – think of his Drawing hands.
I would avoid to nag you about this incredibly wonderful location: you can take a look at my album Silent banks, the complete collection of the photos I have taken there; the attached narratives are rich in information about the place, if you are curious enough.
This location is especially renowned for its legendary morning mists, but only a thin layer of milky mist floated above the water that morning. On top of the hill in the distance, beyond the river, lays the sanctuary of the Madonna della Rocca ( = Madonna of the Rock), already brushed by the first light pouring from the Eastern horizon.
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.7/0/+1.7 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then, as usual, I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4.
I tried the inverted RGB blue channel technique described by Boris Hajdukovic as a possible final contribution to the processing. While this technique (which, its imposing name notwithstanding, is pretty simple to implement) often holds interesting results in full daylight landscapes, its effects on a low-light capture (e.g. a sunrise) are utterly unpredictable, so at the end of my workflow I often give it a try to ascertain its possibilities. In this picture I have exploited this technique in a very frugal, yet effective, way – just some touches where needed.
RAW files has been processed with Darktable. Denoising with DFine 2 and the Gimp (denoised and original images blended by lightness).
I flaked out and did not go in to Wood's Humane Society this past week. I checked the website and Momma Cat is not on it. I hope she was adopted, I'll check when I go out.
(Note: on 3/19 I went to Woods and she was adopted! By one of the volunteers.)
"Will you take me home?" We did in a few days. A friend of a daughter of friend found a very young litter of kittens outside near where he lived. Ron and I went over to see them, not intending to adopt one. However, we did adopt this kitten.
My niece adopted this little sweetie and I got to "foster" her for 24 hours before she could pick her up lol. I would do that full time if I didn't have to work, but I really was sad to see her go and if I did do that I would probably end up being called the neighborhood "cat lady" as I would keep too many of them lol.
Four and a half years ago today, we adopted Floki and that makes him five years old! He’s such a perfect little man and I couldn’t possibly be more in love with him than I already am. I am a very lucky mama!
Ok.......... she's one of the cutest puppies I've ever seen! About 8 weeks old and up for adoption. She's being fostered by my client's daughter and mate. She's so new, she doesn't even have a name yet. She's paper trained and she's pretty mellow for a puppy this age. I'd adopt her myself but I already have three and two of my three are special needs. But if I were looking..... she would be a huge contender. So cute!
UPDATE- SHE WAS JUST ADOPTED!! YAY!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

A second group of older ducklings seem to have "adopted" this wonderful Mom. There are at least another 10 ducklings hiding underneath her wing. Note the size difference among the ducklings.
From 1998 to 2009 I lived in an apartment one block from Eramosa River in Guelph, Ontario. Walking became a daily habit. I adopted the river as a metaphor for life.
I'm sorting through old photos and posting some interesting ones. This images was uploaded to Flickr on Dec. 17, 2019.
Thank you to everyone who visits, faves or comments.
This cat hardly liked you touching him for more than a few seconds. He was a random street cat that one day decided to adopt us! so on occasion I would like him in to hang out, when he got board he would leave. One day he was hanging out in my room, so I picked up my camera and start shooting. Ended up converting to Black & White and cropping the image, giving the image the look and feel that suits this cat.
Thank you all for the comments.
It was a really busy adoption event this past Saturday so I was only able to take pictures of 1 of the 6 puppies adopted from this litter of wrinkly mystery mutts.
Wesley was adopted an hour or so after this photo was taken. His family wanted to grab some lunch before he made the wonderful trip to his new forever home.
If you’re looking for a forever friend, there are a million reasons to give that pet a forever home. But there is a movement happening, which is “Adopt, Don’t Shop”. This basically means that if you’re planning on getting a dog or a cat (or any animal, really), instead of going to an online seller or a pet store, you should go to an animal shelter near you and adopt through there. Instead of shopping for an animal, you are adopting an animal. Just like you wouldn’t be shopping for a child, you shouldn’t be shopping for a pet.
Jarvis (Rescued from the street at 3 months old 4 years ago)
