I posted an image of this woodpile, just off the trail in Miller Canyon, nearly a year ago, when it was draped in a blanket of light snow (see below). The new image above was taken with a different camera, different film, and different lighting, on the same overcast day on which I took the recent culvert image with the Ikonta. In the months which have elapsed between the two woodpile images, the canyon seems to have begun to recapture the woodpile, to absorb it noticeably back into its natural setting. The grass has grown taller between the logs, and the litterfall of leaves and twigs has grown deeper. From above, vines have begun to drape down from extended willow branches. Even Miller Creek, in the background, has contributed to the changes, its swollen waters adjusting its banks and depositing and removing sediment as it moves along past the pile.
Camera: Kiev 4 (1968, with Jupiter-8 50mm f/2 lens).
Film: 35mm 100 ISO Arista.edu Ultra, developed in Arista Liquid Developer for 6:30 minutes @ 70 degrees, and scanned with an Epson V600 scanner.

Just when it seemed safe to resume filling ALL the birdfeeders and putting the Goodie Bowls out for the squirrels again - I saw another cat in the back yard and then later it was peeking in the window. GRRR!
So, I'll continue tossing "critter munchies" out in the back of the yard away from the house. As you can see here, the squirrels are adjusting - and even some birds are starting to forage the lawn for missed morsels. Some mornings we'll see twice as many squirrels but the lighting is bad and I'm usually rushing out the door for work.

A setting looking to the east while taking in views of a waterfall in Maligne Canyon around the First Bridge area. This is in Jasper National Park.
I chose to work with Aurora HDR Pro to better bring that complete setting in the image. I later exported a TIFF image to DxO PhotoLab 6 where I did some final adjustments with contrast, saturation and brightness for the final image.

This a view of stones from around Coldingham Priory now within the bounds of the parish church of Coldingham which is part of the Church of Scotland. The stones gathered with the 2009 date stone are a marvellous collection of head scratchers and bright lighting up solved and dark dismal unsolved moments with consideration of curious potential galore. Such odd stones are quite often reused in secondary service and then further reused over and again with adjustments to fit their next desired placement. Here the stones are fantastically arranged into a fully fabulous collection. Details of the Priory are linked below. It is just in land from Coldingham Sands and St Abbs. As Above is the darkening sky and So Bellow is the shadow darkened hollow of a suitable looking sounding stone.
These ruins are next to New Asgard from Marvel films including Thor enjoying a new place by the sea.

One of the flower children gets ready for the Winter Carnival Parade in Whitefish Montana. This year, 2019, marks the 60 year anniversary this nordic themed festival that is one of the highlights of winter in this ski town. 2019 is also the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, the 1969 iconic music festival. As a salute to Woodstock, the theme of this yearโs celebration was Woodstock Whitefish. Besides the normal viking costumes, there were plenty folks dressed in tie-dye and vintage clothes like they were from 1969. Peace and Love!
This is a long exposure taken at Cloudgate aka 'The Bean' from our holiday in Chicago back in August. As anyone will know places like this are mobbed so my solution other than going very early in the morning when there were no people was to use a strong ND filter to capture a surreal image with ghostly people standing gawping at the sculpture. If you look closely throughout the 6 minute exposure there were lots of people standing across the scene.

I opened the RAW file in Adobe Camera Raw and made some basic lens corrections and other minor adjustments.
Next I imported the file into PS CS6 and began altering the crop slightly. I had considered altering the perspective but it wasnt possible without making The Bean look stupid and I actually like the converging buildings.
Once I was happy with that I opened the file in Silver Efex Pro 2 to create my mono conversion. I chose a preset before with the siders until I was happy. Back into PS I decided to use some Luminosity Masks to enhance the various tones throughout the shot and to add some contrast.
On top of that I also used a 50% Grey layer to do some dodging & burning to further add more punch and contrast.
Finally I saved the file in various sizes and formats before uploading to the web.
