Addiction Treatment in Utah involves a number of things for the addict to recover fully and stop taking the substance that he or she was addicted to. Most of the rehab centers in Utah are Christian based as the state is populated with many religious people which are almost 62%. They offer guidance and counselling services to the addicts and also teach them on the religious activities that they should involve themselves with rather that abusing substances that will make their health deteriorate and can also cause mental problems. They are also trained on how to engage themselves with other activities apart from religious activities that will help them earn a living without depending on their families or friends.

When I first got my camera, I was messing around with depth of field and ended up taking this picture. It has sense become, and remained, my favorite picture I have ever taken. Shot with a Nikon d50. (2006)

Secretary Landgraf, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Director Mike Barbieri and Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay all spoke at DHSS' two-day, sold-out Substance Usage Disorder Conference in Newark on Dec. 7.
Secretary Landgraf told the more than 250 attendees at Embassy Suites in Newark that DHSS' work to increase capacity in the public treatment system won't happen overnight, but “we view this as all hands on deck.”
Director Barbieri reminded providers in attendance that “we’re not just seeing the symptoms, we’re seeing people.” Often people in addiction are having challenges with their relationships, employment or housing. “We need to see that person as a whole.”
Dr. Rattay said in 2012 that Delaware ranked No. 1 in prescribing high-dose opioid pain relievers, and the state’s ranking for overdose deaths has hovered between No. 8 and No. 11. She said it’s important for addiction screening and the connection to treatment to be more integrated into primary care.
via Why Drug Addiction Is a Choice? Science has confirmed that addiction is a chronic brain disease that can happen to anyone. Despite this, there is still popular belief that addiction is the result of weak character or moral failing. We say that addiction should be looked at in the same way that we view other chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension and cancer. If this is true, why are those diseases are not regarded with stigma and shame in the way addiction is? Well, addiction is a bit more complicated. Addiction is a disease that not only affects the physical body, but also crushes the soul. “Feeding the disease” requires a preoccupation with obtaining and consuming substances. This is often accompanied by deceitful and irresponsible behavior, taking a toll on relationships, family commitments and work duties. It is easy to blame the individual for bad behavior – lying, cheating and stealing, as well as angry outbursts – rather than putting the focus on the disease that creates those behaviors. The addicted person is generally not proud of those behaviors. Being shunned by family, friends and society only contributes to greater shame and self-blame. This page was layer upon layer of collage. There's paint in there, and the surface layer is taken from an old Butterick pattern I had in the closet. I was still losing weight at the time of the book's creation and was feeling tired of it. The published image in the book is of the anatomy of a woman when she's worn a corset for her life and how that crushes the organs. I argue with my own image that we still wear figurative corsets. The purple writing in the upper right corner says "drink her up." On the left I wrote out a kind of equation that I often do when I'm trying to straighten out ideas.
