This is a hard one for me, but I think it's time.
Secret #15: I'm on the upside of a 20 year struggle with an eating disorder ... bulimia nervosa. Most of the time, I'm ok. I have strategies to deal differently with my stress and I no longer find it necessary to punish myself. That's really what it was about for me. Punishing myself. But now I know it wasn't my fault.
That's most of the time. There are times when "it" consumes me though, because it's an addiction. That's when it's a real struggle. That's when I call people and say "just keep me on the phone ... please." And, thankfully, they do.

You must be
true to yourself.
Strong enough to be
true to yourself.
Brave enough to be
strong enough to be
true to yourself.
Wise enough to be
brave enough to be
strong enough to
shape yourself from what
you actually are.

Day 17: Not a bad day… Despite the fact that I was late to work. So I decided to take a picture of what keeps me up all night and caused me to over sleep… It’s an addiction. Oh Internetz, how much I love thee…
Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long and state Sen. Nicole Poore were among the honorees Oct. 17 at atTAcK addiction's annual Be a Hero Gala at the Executive Banquet Center near Newark. Lt. Gov. Hall-Long, who has sponsored addiction-related legislation as a state senator, now chairs the Behavioral Health Consortium and does naloxone outreach across the state, told the hundreds in the audience who gave her standing ovation, "It's all about the hope you bring."
Sen. Poore, who also has supported addiction-related legislation and volunteers with atTAcK addiction, said she understands the trauma that parents feel when their adult children are suffering from addiction. "There is nothing more difficult than a challenge with a child," she said.

I don't have any addictions, I deal with compulsions - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
OCD...
I don't really talk about it much, I don't care to, and am not sure I can really explain it. Only a few people know of the full extent and even then they don't really know as they're not experiencing it....
This is a brief insight.....
I count and count and count, time, numbers, organisedness and count..I get twitchy about time, I can't wear digital watches or have digital clocks around me - I add the numbers of the time up, then I count the dashes which make up the numbers and see if they make the same number, if not I work out the time when this will happen next....I count all the time, folds in curtains, angles in eyebrows, lamposts...anything..not just once but over and over and over...I also need to have the same amount of footsteps on surfaces, avoid cracks...I need to feel balanced.
Life is ruled by lists, lists of lists, which is practical and also a royal pain in the arse!
Some friends know I count..and I feel a few treat it like a joke and I have caught some watching me trying to work out what I'm counting. It can feel a lonely existence.
It's heightened by stress and can be triggered by 'little' things like change of a planned time or location. On the whole it's been fairly controllable but this past year it's been worse....(to be continued)
i found it in laura's room and the battery still works. it's like i'm 8 years old again, only this time i can conduct psych experiments on a virtual pet.

Methadone is an opioid painkiller that is approved to treat opioid addiction. It is highly effective when used as prescribed.
However, it is highly addictive because it contains opiate. Being a serious social and medical problem, methadone addiction requires detoxification and treatment from knowledgeable and experienced medical staff.
One of the most important factors that can help ensure the success of drug addiction treatment is having a solid and committed support group. If you have a loved one who is going through a rehabilitation program for substance abuse, know that your role is critical in the patient’s recovery journey.

Battlefield Addiction is an organization whose goal is to help recovering addicts reintegrate with society. This coffee shop is one arm of that goal, where said recovering addicts are able to gain work experience by serving coffee.
This shop used to be Jason's Coffee Shop, but has since changed hands.
"Using the Yale Food Addiction Scale, designed to measure a person's dependence on, scientists found that cheese is particularly potent because it contains casein. The substance, which is present in all dairy products, can trigger the brain's opioid receptors which are linked to addiction."
