Hi my name is Vitaliy and I'm a Flickr Addict.
I love this site and the photographs/photographers that I have and still am discovering on it. I even made a couple of friends who I've met in real life. But aside from that, it seems that more and more sites like Flickr, MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter are becoming an actual medical addiction. How many people run to their computers as soon as they get home to check up on stuff they might've missed in the few hours they were away, outside, actually living? Fuck, I know I'm guilty.
I also gotta place a whole lot of blame on people growing more distant and unable to communicate face to face because they've gotten so used to hiding behind their computer screens. Just think about it, how many people do you that have started or ended a relationship and the only reason anyone has found out is because they changed their 'relationship status' or put up a update for their friends to see, instead of telling them in person and embracing in their joy or sorrow.
Internet and all its benefits as well as distractions are pretty much unavoidable but you can't let it be your only outlet to human interaction.

Art is communication between the artist and the viewer, However, the feelings and the message received by the viewer depend on many things, including the viewer's own experiences.
When I view the syringes and hardware in this Jack-o-Lantern, serving as the head of a scarecrow, I think of recreational drugs and the problems of addiction, all around us. A social issue I've been working with in the church.
I'm probably looking into it more than the artist intended, but this scarecrow is giving me an interesting message!

"Nicotine is an addictive drug. It causes changes in the brain that make people want to use it more and more. In addition, addictive drugs cause unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. The good feelings that result when an addictive drug is present — and the bad feelings when it's absent — make breaking any addiction very difficult. Nicotine addiction has historically been one of the hardest addictions to break."

Despite being an opioid replacement therapy treatment, suboxone addiction is real. Suboxone treatment is an effective double edged sword among heroin addicts. If taken without supervision, suboxone addiction can develop requiring the patient to undergo another psychological and pharmacological treatment course to remedy its euphoric effects.
