The Adventure Team has been sent to Southeast Asia to investigate sightings of a new species of wild Tiger Striped Canines. The Land Adventurer and Man of Action check through the saw grass to see if one is in the area.

I always thought the Marine camo pattern was one of the coolest uniforms from the GI Joe line. (Including the Land Adventurer from the AT series.)

I never owned a marine style uniform until...well..until the Masterpiece reproduction Joes came out in the late 1990's. However, I took advantage of the fact that over the next 5 years or so Hasbro released a lot of sets that included the classic marine camo uniform!

WIth all of those sets, I've noticed quite a variance in color and pattern, so here I'll show a comparison of the variations that I have. To give a baseline to the camo variations, the figures are holding a vintage marine tent.

You can see the biggest difference between the uniforms if you look at the uniform pants across the photo.

From Left to right we have....

1 - Starting from the left is a 40th Anniversary Marine with the 'mint' colored background on his uniform.

2 - 40th Anniversary Marine with a medium green uniform base for the camouflage. This also seems to be the closest match to the original uniform.

3 - 40th Anniversay Marine with an olive uniform base. Also notice that the pattern is a bit denser, with more black flecks. (Or is it just that the green painted flecks stand out better on this lighter material, making it look like a denser pattern?)

4 - Masterpiece GI Joe Marine uniform. The base color on this uniform is closer to tan. Uniform is displayed on a Timeless Collection GI Joe.

5 - This is the uniform from the Spy Island Timeless Collection figure. The uniform base color shows a heavy yellow influence under a lot of lighting conditions.

6 - The rightmost figure is wearing the uniform from the Timeless Green Beret Machine Gun outpost. The base color for this uniform is tan, and the camouflage pattern is fairly loose.

I just wanted to share these observations, since there seems to be so much variation in the reproduction uniforms that Hasbro released from 1998-2003.

The Faithless Angels look on with envy as Tabi steals Thor's heart!

Jake seems extremely pleased with the study progress so far.

The GI Joe Air Adventurer prepares for a mission in the Adventure Team Helicopter. He awaits the Sea Adventurer with his orders from headquarters.

German Stormtroopers caught some French resistance fighters in the ruins nearby Paris...

Go on and say, go on and say your last goodbye, there will be blood...

Made a custom mix figure based on the Killzone and Wolfenstein videogames. So Wolfenghast seemed an appropriate name for him. Think he turned out pretty cool.

"He's here Jake. He is waiting for you in the corner booth" Jenna whispers to Jake.

Action Man adventurer sets up camp (with a tent purloined from the 12" World Peacekeepers).

So I took a day off classes today, and ended up at the flea market! It's a good thing because I found an Audrey Hepburn doll (!!!!!!) I've searched online but can't pinpoint exactly which version mine is, but she has a beautiful face! Also found was a Superstar mould Barbie, another Action Man and a torso joint Ken!

I bought the Bratz doll because I don't have any of those, and she will be my only one! :p

Also found was an (oversized) Beauty and the Beast's Beast's mirror!

"Yes, there is plenty of room on the Tardis" smied the Doctor.

Swapped Jake over onto a TBL M33, much happier with him now.

Not 100% sure on his look, but that is still a work in progress.

The old guard, and my five childhood figures. Jake and his team. All loving restored, and how I always imaged them.

The Adventure Team is on patrol in a backyard jungle. They are searching for clues on the disappearance of a team sent here back in 1978.

Yet another Action Man, Fashionistas Nikki and a dark pivotal bodied Christie doll with orange/pink streaks were bought today!

Also found were a soldier hat and helmet,a 1:6 scale Koala bear, a large bracelet (that I'm not sure is my kind of thing :P), a Mystery Machine car and Sleeping Beauty's Diablo figure(!!!!!!)!

Surrounded on all sides by overwhelming numbers, the surviving Martians have no option but to surrender. The Martian invasion is over, Toyville is victorious... and I can go and lie down in a darkened room for a while.

"Well done, Doctor - I knew we could count on you. Eventually."

THE END

(I really must commission up a proper Nick Courtney/Brigadier head sometime).

An eye to eyesocket confrontation with the skull of death did not bother the Man at all.

Just another day at the office.

I found the skull of an old Revell (or Airfix) skeleton from the 70's, or early 80's from my old junk. It appears to be of the same 1/6 scale as the Action Man. Naturally I juxtaposed the two and placed them on a light table facing each other.

Funny thing is that the reflections created by this simple lighting made the eye of the Action Man look really good, almost alive.

Also, it's been a while since photographing this guy. One shot of him needs to be done every now and then...

LEGO + Action Man = toy from childhood fantasies =D

Vintage Actionman Mountie...

Cleo de Nile: “…right to her face and said, ‘Look me in the eye and say that.’ Then, she was totally, ‘Oh, I don’t know what you heard.’ and all that. Whatever!”

Cloe: “She’s so fake, you can’t trust her. She told Holt that she was working that night but we went by the store and she wasn’t even there!”

Laguna Blue: “Oh, she was working all right! On Deuce! Girl, you’d best hook him in tight.”

Cleo de Nile: “Psh! As if! No hairy faced girl can compete with me.”

Cloe: *giggle* “Does Clawdeen have to go to the men's shaving section?”

Cloe, Cleo and Laguna: “HAHAHAAHAAA!!!!”

ATC: Welcome to the Adventure Team John Steele.

AM: Thank you sir.

ATC: Um we are a little more laid back here at AT H.Q. No need for saluting and saying sir here.

AM: Yes Sir.

ATC: Ha you'll get used to it.

The GI Joe Adventure Team is on a recon mission along the upper banks of Ralston Creek. Mike Powers the Atomic Man along with a GI Joe Adventurer map and survey the area.

Made a cool Pirate from a vintage Action Man and some bits and bobs. Modded him with a hook and wooden leg as well. I think he turned out awesome :D

Doctor Diablos makes off with a stolen Duff beer, but Joe has ideas about stopping him getting away!

Recently did some work on my Diablos to fit his head to a new body. I had to chop away his original neck and make a custom neck post.

The evil Captain Zargon is back!!

I can't count the tears of a life with no love

Secret Mission to Spy Island

Captain Zargon & his Space Pirates... all of whom the Captain may have met on the toy shelves waybackwhen (from l to r):

The alien Krome who betrayed the Tommy Gunn team (well, a repainted Tommy anyhow; real Kromes are rare & expensive)

Zargon himself, repainted and re-costumed.

Action Girl - disowned by the Action Man squad (they didn't play with girls, it was too cissy!) she joined Zargon for twisted revenge.

Battle-scarred Action Man - driven insane by the torture of early childhood customising!

Found my son's Action Man Humvee, so did a few pics with Jake at the wheel!

Custom I made to join Action Man in the resistance :P
