The camera strap is around the bars, and foam with tape around it is acting as a suspension system to protect the camera from shocks. The foam is what is held against the right side of the handlebar while riding

Be aware that using a DLSR camera like this can expose it to a signifignat risk of damage, and can possibly create serious stability issues for the rider.

I got a little Canon Ivy (FV-100) fixed lens outdoor camera and was taking lots of test shots, which requires practice as there's no LCD screen. This is seriously old style. I wasn't even aware I took a selfie when I was taking shots in the garden centre. But, I have to say, I absolutely love this little camera.

I rode my AiPAS EBike down to Volunteer Landing (riding on Third Creek and Neyland Greenways ). I got photos with my Sony Alpha and iPhone cameras. I flew my DJI drone as well and captured video & photos during my flight.
