Finally got to check off “Hammered Cow”. Last time I attempted it I was met by 3 - 4 feet of snow. This time around it was in prime condition but holy shit did it frustrate the heck out of me. The climbing trails were pretty decent but you also have the option to shuttle. I wanted to explore the full trail from top to bottom and boy was that a waste of time and effort. Basically just 100m stretches of steep rocky descents and then getting lost in a network of cross country skiing trails. The real trail pretty much started halfway. But man oh man, it’s as if someone teleported me to the Nelson North Shore. One of the finest old school trails I have ridden in the valley and such a concentration of rock slabs I have not encountered the likes in the Okanagan yet. It self proclaims to be one of the hardest trails in the valley, which is pushing it a bit but I t’s fun as hell but sadly the fun is short lived. I passed some other black lines that also looked and sounded promising. Will for sure return to explore some more.

Taken with a cheap action cam (Akaso Brave 4), at 5 seconds per frame, playback at 30 FPS. Note: The supplied wide-angle lens has been switched to a 50mm lens. These lenses are easy to switch using M12 threaded lenses commonly available on Amazon, and other fine camera stores...

It now fits nicely into The Frame and works okay there. I will use a dab of epoxy to cover the opened up section from the elements.

Imagine Berlin, a city usually bustling with the familiar symphony of urban traffic, suddenly transformed into a better place. Picture its wide boulevards and even sections of its iconic Autobahn, not filled with cars but with a vibrant, moving sea of bicycles. This is the Sternfahrt Berlin, an annual cycling event organized by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club (also known as the ADFC) that sees tens of thousands of participants reclaim the streets for a day.

It’s not just a bike ride; it’s a powerful demonstration of sustainable transportation and a celebration of pedal power. In the spring of 2025, I participated in it for the first time, and I loved the experience so much that I’m writing about it just a few hours after getting back home.

The Calvin University professor trawled his storage spaces to compile this collection, artfully arranged in the campus art museum, located in its Covenant Fine Arts Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan [November 7, 2019]. The notes posted on the wall at the left side of the stitched panorama describe the new purpose that visitors will use the item they have selected from the floor, thus giving "useless stuff" a new life; a new use and thereby not fitting into the definition of the items on display. The 1990s book "Use Less Stuff" by an archaeologist Robert Lilienfeld who excavates modern landfills for clues to the society disposing of solid waste might usefully complement this exhibition.
