Across Forest Canyon from this overlook point at 11,716', the peaks of the Continental Divide form the mountainous backbone which demarks whether rivers flow east toward the Atlantic, or west toward the Pacific.
To reach this overlook you drive the Trail Ridge Road (US HWY 34), the highest continuous road in the United States. But, be aware the road is closed from mid-October until June due to severe weather.
I came across an older photo of mine and I thought I would try to recreate it.

View across the rooftops of residences towards Lake Mälaren, from the grassy slopes of the church grounds. Mariefed, Sweden.
Norfolk Southern's Richmond local V24 on its way back to yard office at Richmond, VA after dropping off cars at the Coca Cola plant.
As the sun came over the mountains, one of the tallest dunes received the first of the early morning rays. It was really nice to watch the light creep across the dunes as the sun gradually cleared the mountain ridge.
Across the ditch is a saying here for popping over the Tasman Sea to New Zealand. This is the black rock beach of Napier on the north Island. It is a beachside city with a seaport, known for its sunny climate, esplanade lined with Norfolk pines, and extensive Art Deco architecture. For these attributes, Napier is sometimes romantically referred to as the "Nice of the Pacific".

Looking across the stark cornfields just after sunrise in rural Polk County, Iowa. This was our first bit of snow and it was a chilly morning at 25°. This isn't a spectacular scene, but the wispy dark clouds caught my eye here as I was driving home from Thomas Mitchell Park.

I was at the Beaverton Creek wetlands, when I spotted this Cooper's Hawk flying over. First time I've seen one in that area!
